I don't doubt that many people have had a good experience here as it seems highly likely. I am just posting my own experience but I encourage you to find out for yourself. This past Sunday April 23, my wife and I met up with some friends and their children for lunch. I ordered the quesadilla relleno (spelling) with chicken. Because its a quesadilla, it is obviously folded in half and you cannot see the interior without opening it. I blindly trusted that the order was correct (even though the server did not write down a single thing for a party with 5 meal orders). I received a quesadilla with chicken, been, and shrimp. Normally this wouldn't be an issue for most people except for one caveat - shrimp (shellfish) can kill me because I am highly allergic. I ate a few bites of the quesadilla before running into shrimp. Presumably the whole quesadilla had been in contact with shrimp as it was all cooked together. Luckily I did not ingest enough shrimp meat or residue to cause a hospital visit but I did suffer from fever, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for 24-36 hours afterward. Had the server written anything down, this would not have been an issue. I alerted the server to the mistake and she thought I ordered the one that she delivered. This is despite the fact that I pronounced what I ordered correctly and even pointed to it on the menu at the time of ordering. To me, this is the server claiming responsibility. The nonchalant attitude of the server even after I made it known that the shrimp has the potential to kill me, disgusted me. There was no replacement offered. The other guests we were with were all finished by the time the server came back around to check on us. Despite all of this, I paid the bill for the whole table and tipped 20%. The item delivered in error was removed from the bill. This is simple because I try to be a decent human being and I have been in table service before, so I can relate. I did not cause an issue with the staff at all because I did not want to risk embarrassing my friends or wife. I do sincerely doubt I will get a response to this review. Albeit most likely a good restaurant, due to the poorly trained staff and absolutely no visibility of management, I will never return and will share this story any and every time the name of your restaurant is brought up in conversation. The one star review is due solely to the young female server that tended to us. We sat on the patio, 4 adults, one teen, and two infants. This was from approximately 2pm to 3:30 pm on...
Read moreWe picked up a takeout order on a Friday for lunch. When I called, I was placed on hold 3 or 4 times, each time someone new picked up the phone saying “Hello?” and then telling me to hold again after I said I wanted to place a takeout order. Finally got someone on the phone to take my order and I asked about some lunch dishes that are on their website and the girl acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about so she had to ask someone, which is fine I guess. I don’t think she understood what I meant though because when I got my order, one of the items was wrong in the lunch combo.
When I walked in to pick up the order, it smelled of disinfectant/bathroom/some type of cleaner right at the front, which was not appetizing. The male hostess was wearing a lot of cologne, also not appetizing at all. In food service it’s known that you should never wear cologne or perfume.
The staff seemed friendly enough and seemed to seat people right away who walked so, so that was good.
Kiosco’s website is a mess. There is no clear “Menu” button and when you finally find the menu sections, the way it scrolls on the page is incredibly annoying. The whole site is not good. I know they have a nice patio area outside and perhaps an okay dining area so one would think they’d invest some money into an easy to use website, not everyone trusts the google menus to be accurate. Also, their prices are not updated on the website. I also think they should have printed menus for people to take home.
As for the food, it’s mediocre, about like most Mexican restaurants around here. I was supposed to get a chile relleno and even asked the lady to make sure it was the one with beef and she said yes. I got it home and it’s just a cheese stuffed poblano, and might I say a SPICY one at that, I was unable to eat it. Cheese enchilada was standard, rice is okay, and the refried beans did have a nice flavor compared to other places, but nothing outstanding. Prices were a bit ridiculous as well, $24 and some change for two lunch items.
Perhaps it’s better to dine in, but I probably won’t return for a long long time. I used to go all the time about 10 - 15 years ago. Thought I’d give it...
Read moreVisited this amazing little Grill by chance when we visited friends while traveling through the states. It was by far one of the best restaurants we ate at on our trip, and the best mexican food I've ever eaten! As a larger party of 8 we were greeted by the most friendly of staff, we ordered fresh chips, guacamole dip, fresh salsa, and super dip (amazingness in a bowl). I loved everything so much and was just mixing things together and the flavors just kept getting better. Margarita in hand, very relaxed, fun environment, and beautiful artwork everywhere including the sinks in the washroom! Everything came out in the appropriate amount of time and never felt we were waiting on anything. I ordered the taquitos and put fresh guacamole on the side and I loved every bite of it. Perfectly cooked, not too much food, just the right amount. I also kept adding the super dip from the nachos onto my taquitos and it was delicious. Alongside me my family order various other things, pictures of the quesadillas included here, but everyone loved everything they ate! As a one time experience I cannot be happier with the visit to Kiosco and I recommend anyone to do so also! If I could bring it back to Canada with...
