I will never do business with another jeweler after my experience with Fentress. I have an engagement ring that's over a decade old that has had nothing but issues with diamonds falling out at random. I've had it "fixed" previously, but no one has taken the time to address the actual issues with the poor craftsmanship. I took my ring into Fentress after getting several recommendations from a local mom group. They addressed the issue with the diamond that fell out and had it fixed and ready to pick up in less than a week. I picked it up and and before I left the store, another diamond had fallen out (absolutely NOT an issue from them, but an ongoing issue I've had repeatedly). I went back in to show them and they were so kind and apologetic and had the ring fixed within 24hrs and didn't charge me a dime to replace the other stone that had fallen out despite their through care for the ring. They went back in and made sure everything was as secure as it possibly could be. Ive never had such great care at such an affordable price. My jewelry was handled in store and didn't have to be sent off for weeks at a time, like it has been previously. Also, I think it's important to note, for the initial visit and the first pick up, my 4yo was with me and I was in my workout clothes, hair not done, no makeup, and was treated the same as any other customer, and they asked about him when I came in to pick up my ring the second time. We love supporting local, family owned businesses. 10/10 would...
Read moreDO NOT-- I REPEAT DO NOT get jewelry repaired here. You will be OVERCHARGED-- and the work will be shoddy-- and all they will want to do is BLAME some(one)/(thing) else! In fact-- be careful when you take your jewelry to other places-- because MANY stores in the area actually send their things out to Fentress jewelry for repair. I would suggest-- when you take a piece in for repair-- asking "do you do your repair work-- "in house"? If they will admit that Fentress does their work-- I would suggest you go elsewhere! You have been warned.....And oh yeah-- got a very bad appraisal, too. At first visit was told that a stone was "over one carat"-- and they DID measure-- in front of me-- with their calipers and say that. She said-- the diamond was "very tall"-- and that's "where the size was" then later-- when I paid for a "formal writtten appraisal"-- they said they could only see that the stone was "approx 3/4 carat" (?!?!?!)-- now-- we have to go pay MORE money-- for an appraisal--...
Read moreI recently moved to the area and needed a new jeweler for my jewelry service. Fentress was the closest shop, so I decided to visit first. I brought in a few items for a simple polish, specifically requesting a wheel polish. I was not interested in steam, sonic, or tumble cleaning.
I was quoted $45 per item for three pieces. Although one of the items was a chain, I expected a straightforward polishing process, likely with a cloth and some extra effort. The clerk began explaining the high cost, which felt unnecessary, and I decided to leave.
Eventually, I found another jeweler who polished my items for free, and I even purchased a ring from them. Based on this experience, I would hesitate to recommend Fentress; their reputation for being "daring" is well-earned. You might want to think twice before taking your...
