I can bit pretty harsh on Mexican restaurants. We have a good variety of them in Pittsburgh, so I have tried authentic, Americanized, gourmet, hip, pretty much any take on Mexican you can get.
Being in a small town I went in fully expecting the most Americanized of Mexican food and maybe that's why I was genuinely satisfied with the food that I got. Starting out with the margarita. I got Orange Cream looking for something different and it was really good. For dinner, I got the Pollos Rancheros and a Chile Relleno. I wish I had ordered a plate of the Rellenos. Not that I was disappointed in the Chicken. It was a good plate, full of good food. The beans are good. The chicken itself was tender, covered in basically a combo of TexMex sauce and ranch dressing, but it was good. The relleno on the other hand was excellent, even if also covered in generic red TexMex sauce.
My wife got the chimichangas and absolutely loved them.
All in all, maybe not the most authentic you will ever get, but it's head and shoulders above bad chain Mexican food. Well worth the stop. The food and service were...
Read moreEverything was excellent from the time I went in to the time I left! Super job. Food was so good and people were very nice. Edit: so I went back yesterday(and this is almost 2 years later from original post) and the prices were a lot higher than before. I know with the inflation and COVID going on but I spent 70 dollars for two adults and a child. So I took a star for the crazy price inflation. We got seated by a woman who looked high and couldn't understand us well. The man working there who was wearing a hat was better though. No introductions, and they checked on us once the whole time. The good news is that their food was delicious and hot. It's the only reason I put two stars instead of one. Their food was well proportioned and looked nice also. Other than that it sucked. I...
Read moreI am of Mexican decent and sadly I have to say this is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The portions were small and way over priced. A kids meal should not cost $8.00. the food was nothing spectacular. It was not even ok. The total bill was almost $70.00 and my son food was made incorrectly after verifying with the waitress 3 times and the desserts were stale and frostbitten from being in the freezer for too long. If you want Mexican save your money and go to Hermitage and eat at El Vallarta or La Isla. You'll get more food, better food, for a fraction...
