I haven't been to a Five Guys in a while. I remembered the prices being higher than what I considered to be a good value but I remembered good fries. So, when I finished working late in the evening at a site in the same strip, I decided to pay them a visit. I was shocked at the $13.99 price tag for a burger, fries, and drink. That price tag set high expectations that quickly fell flat.
The first problem was the 13 minute wait to get food. The cooks got an early start because the cashier called back to them so they could start the burger before I ordered and there was no one ahead of me. Maybe that is normal for a Five Guys but I found it excessive.
Next was the burger. I love grilled onions and BBQ sauce on a burger. The sauce they used had an overwhelming smoky flavor. I couldn't taste anything else. But, I'm not sure the meat would have been good anyway. A crust on a burger isn't a bad thing. But, this burger was so thin that it just added up to being overcooked, dry, and I never tasted anything. The sign says all burgers are cooked well done. So, maybe this is also normal. But, I didn't like it. Unfortunately, I have to eat nearly gluten free. So, it's no bread for me. I opted to have it all in a bowl. They have a lettuce wrap option but it's often too messy with BBQ sauce.
Finally, I need to talk about the fries that tempted me in the door. They were so salty that I only ate about a third of the small order. My mouth was still feeling them an hour later. I was full enough so it wasn't all bad. But, it shouldn't be their decision to put me on a diet. Normally, I would have asked for some new fries. But, I was already turned off enough that I didn't bother.
There is a rumor that Five Guys is coming to my home town. I was excited but after this experience, we'll save our money and find better food. I much prefer Cook...
Read moreFive Guys is always delicious. I love how easy it is to customize a burger with a large variety of topping options. The fresh, hand cut fries are the best by far. My issue with Five Guys is the price. It cost over $14 for me to get a little cheeseburger and a little fry. Calling it "little" is deceiving because the burger is big enough and seems like a regular size and the fries are always overflowing in the cup and fall into the bottom of the bag. I understand I'm paying for quality but this still seems a bit much and I only treat myself to Five Guys a few times a year and it's definitely a place I go alone because I'm not going to pay $30-40 to go with my husband and I certainly will not take my whole family of five. My other issue with Five Guys is their online ordering. I order online so I can just walk in and pick up my food then leave. I don't want to have to come inside and wait but that is always the case here and I don't understand. The system asks to let them know when you are on your way. It even tracks your location to know how far away you are. You can tap a button to let them know you are there but it is never ready and waiting for you. You still have to go to the register and let them know you are there/check-in. In the past I was told it's because they want every customer to get their food hot and fresh to maintain the quality, especially the fries. I get it and my food was still hot when I got home and it was indeed delicious BUT I don't like ordering online just to go inside and still have to wait. I would rather just tap the I'm here button and get notification when my food is ready and then go walk inside...
Read moreWorst visit here ever.
We spent $125, including tip. Plus ordered another large fry and two milkshakes while picking up food.
I had to order the extra large fry, because they didn’t add any fries to bottom of bag as they usually do.
Then I get home. None of the burgers are labeled.. so I had to open everyone’s burger to see what was what. What I did find was an order full of burgers missing toppings or having so little you could barely tell.
One of of the 4 burgers that had grilled onions, actually had grilled onions.
One bacon cheeseburger was missing the bacon. The burger without a bun only had one piece of bacon.
Almost all had very little lettuce… I’m talking one burger’s lettuce was covered up by a couple of pickles.
No condiment cups to put ketchup or vinegar in..
And it’s funny, there is no way in the world this place would’ve ran this way on my shift.
And I say that to the GM and DM.. you should remember me. Just over a month ago I interviewed for the AM position. I went through over an hour of a second interview… to never get a call back again. Couldn’t imagine what I said or did to not get the job… but I’ll tell you what… I would’ve never allowed an order like this out of the door. This was my second visit since my interview, and it’s like night and day from my first.
I have two stars instead of one, because as a burger spot.. I love it.. but this was disappointing.
I’d add photos, but since I’ve already had to pick through each burger to see what was on it.. and now they are getting cold.. I’ll let everyone eat and just send...
