Joy of Tokyo - Augusta Street — Restaurant in Greenville

If I could give no stars, I would, but I can’t. I came here on January 23rd 2022 with my family. We ordered at 6:24pm - we were waiting patiently, however when it got to 7pm & everyone else in our family had our food & we did not, I was upset. I went to the cashier to ask her where our food was. She gave me a response of “I don’t know” in an extremely rude way & rolled her eyes. I asked for the manager. He proceeds to tell me an online order came in with 10 orders of sushi & that it would be a while before we got our’s. Meanwhile, the rest of the people we were with were already eating their food. By this time, I’m heated. How in the world are we going to order right after the people we were with & still not have our food because an online order came in & they became priority? We ended up getting our money back & left. I can assure you we will not be back & I recommend anyone who goes here to make sure they place an online order seeing how those take priority over the people eating in the restaurant or just don’t go here at all.

What happened to customer...

Had been three since they went under new ownership. It was great the first two times. The third time, we arrived around 8pm. We ordered and went to get our drinks after paying. My husband could smell the tea from how old it was (but sometimes that just happens. We wrote it off.) After we got our food, I began to eat and noticed my chicken was a little soft but not raw, but my husband immediately spit his out and said a piece of his was not cooked. I looked down at my plate and saw a hair. I thought “okay, maybe one of my dog’s hairs possibly fell off my jacket.” After pulling that off the chicken, I immediately found another. And then another. My husband immediately threw our food away and promptly left. I noticed the cook wasn’t wearing a hair net despite having long hair. We won’t be back...

Upon walking in the lady was sitting down eating behind the counter and continued eating even after I reached the counter. I was never greeted (this should have been a red flag to begin) Got my food, ordered Hibachi Steak & Shrimp and it was HORRIBLE, (Just FYI) there’s an up charge if you don’t get Broccoli; it’s been a few years since I ate here and last time my experience was Sub-Par but I decided to give them another chance. Rice seemed 3 days old, Veggies were tasteless and Steak had no flavor. Shrimp was the best part about the plate, even the white sauce was tasteless, worse experience, don’t have to worry about me ever returning to this Joy of Tokyo. Fooled me once, Never Again...
