The Bakery Off Augusta — Restaurant in Greenville

I will never step foot back into this place again after the disrespect I received today. I have followed them on Facebook for a couple of years and today they posted their cake of the week was coconut which I am big fan of. So on my lunch break I stopped by to pick up a slice . When I entered there was one other patron (a white woman) who was looking at a case of pasties and had her backed turned to myself and the lady at the counter. It was clear that she was still deciding and not ready to pay for her items. So I stepped up to the counter to order my cake slice (there was no more than a foot between us and no way she could not see me) and she slightly turned her head and looked down at the counter, not acknowledging my presence. Then she turns to the other person who was now beside me and asks if she was needing anything out of the case. The other customer hesitated but I stepped to the side once it was clear I was not going to be help . She the rings up the other customer while finally looking at me several times. While I kept my composure, it was clear to me that she had a problem with my skin (whether It because I’m black or covered in tattoos or perhaps both) so instead I made sure she could see the disgust on my face. I certainly hope this person wasn’t the owner, but after sharing my experience with someone who has visited the bakery several times, such behavior was displayed to her as well....

Let me tell this to the whole world not only was just bakery clean and nice I ate some of the best baked food and cakes I have ever ate in my whole life I have been to every city in America a lot of different places I've met a lot of different people and I'll say this from the bottom of my heart I have never walked in anywhere and they showed me such great hospitality in my whole career of being a trucker I felt like family at this bakery and now there are part of my family because I'm 400 pounds and I love food they had the best Cherry Danish pastry I have ever ate my whole life along with the pretzels the young man was generous enough at the counter he gave me a few looks like you're trying let me tell you something the best pretzel I've ever ate and all their snacks and goodies are made with love every time I go to South Carolina they said they would make enough room for me to back my 18 wheeler in this seemed to be a family owned and operated business and they are doing a really great job this little small community business needs to be recognized by everyone to enjoy I highly recommend and I will be back thank you and I must add this because these people touched my heart yesterday I haven't seen my family but nearly three months but you're reminded me a lot of them yesterday and I can't thank you all enough sincerely Tony...

We were scheduled for a cake tasting, but the primary contact person wanted to re-schedule since he had a family emergency and was going to be out of town. I didn't want to re-schedule since my mom was coming in from out of town in order to help me with vendors. Fortunately, he was very accommodating and said that another woman would be able to meet with us. When that day came the woman was very unprepared for our arrival. She first insisted that we tell her what flavors we wanted to try. I asked for a menu or listing of flavors that they offered since I had NO idea what I wanted. She said they didn't have a menu, they could do any flavor. I asked for key lime, but that was the one flavor they could't do because something with the "acidity" (even though we had just come from another bakery and sampled a wonderful key lime cake). She eventually just brought us a sample of 4 different flavors (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, red velvet-very basic and typical). They tasted awful! It tasted like box cake and you could tell the frosting was not real buttercream. She even said that they frequently use box mixes for their cakes. The whole appointment was disappointing. The woman was standoffish and not helpful. Go to Kathy and Company. They are much more professional and prepared with numerous samples of unique...
