I'm a former Californian who takes his Mexican and Central American food very seriously. On the east coast, I find that I am frequently let down by the quality of tacos when I think back fondly on my days in the west. But! today marks a bright spot in my life. That brightness provided by, Mario's tacos.
The Food I got two tacos de lingua and una torta de pollo. My lady got a burrito de lengua. I have to say, they did it right!
The meat was flavorful and tender and everything you could hope it would be. It was contrasted nicely against the bright white onions and cilantro; enrobed in a fresh made corn tortilla.
The torta had very tasty bread that was warm and inviting, providing a wonderful living space for the tasty chicken that surrendered its life to me on the bread.
Burrito was done how I wished all burritos were done: all of the fillings were on the inside instead of on top. Again, the meat was flavorful and delicious, beans were tasty and reminiscent of home, the rice rounding it out with that feel good flavor. The veggies inside brightened it up and the salsas were not too bad either!
The Folks People were fun to talk to and I enjoyed getting to know them a little bit. I promise them what I promise you now, I will be back.
The Atmosphere It had that wonderful, hole in the wall taqueria feel: lots of handmade art and poster on the wall, a TV playing Spanish language programming and of course,...
Read moreI am from southern California. We have some of the best taco joints and Mexican restaurants. I usually do not like to try Mexican outside of California and Texas. This place is attached a convenient store. Place is a little shady. In my experience this kinda places have the best foods. I am vegetarian most of the times. I was in love with their veggie tacos. Also I am a self proclaimed hot sauce connoisseur and their red sauce is to die for. It is hot enough to make me sweat and my mouth tingle but tasty enough to want more. My colleague had chicken tacos was also in love with them. The people are really friendly and not stingy. They gave me extra hot sauce and I was in heaven. I would recommend this hidden gem to...
Read moreHands down the best tacos in Greenville!!! This local spot was so absolutely delicious, we had to get seconds. My boyfriend and I tried the steak, chicken, and beef bbq tacos and were blown away. The quality and price of the food— you can’t beat. Our favorite was the beef bbq tacos; so soft and flavorful. All the salsas were scrumptious and the pico de gallo was fresh and delicious. The owners were very pleasant and attentive. I would give more stars if I could....
