INCREDIBLE tacos! Although I live closer to some of the top-ranked taco shops in Dallas, I will forever return to this tiny East Texas gem. As you pull up to Oviedo's, don't be put off by the rough exterior. Walk through the door, pass through the convenience store area in the front, and head back to place your order at the counter of the small carnicería (butcher shop) and taqueria (Mexican restaurant specializing in tacos and burritos). Most of the menu is written in Spanish (a good sign that you're about to eat something delicious), but there are English translations on the board and the sweet ladies behind the counter speak English very well (an important note if you only speak English yourself!). While there are several options on the menu, I have only had the tacos (many, many tacos) and they are phenomenal. These are real, no frills tacos with meat, pico de gallo, and limes. The red and green salsas provided are also excellent. My favorite meat by far is the pastor, but you can't go wrong with anything you select. If you're in the area and you love authentic tacos, make time to stop in here!

I felt as if I were stepping into a Mexicali B.C. tienda y taceria (store and taco shop) from my childhood. Their menu is extensive, and you can order prepared Mexican meats (by the lb) to go. Bring your own drink if you want something iced. I ordered the barbacoa torta and the boss lady had two beef tacos. They were very tasty! The salsa bar is jammed packed with amazing salsas and various condiments; the orange one (which I suspected as having habaneros and carrotts) was spicy with a little sweetness. Free chips are not the best...but hey, they're free. We'll definitely be back to try their other offerings.

This place has been a favorite of mine for years. Under new ownership with a new name. New owners have done improvements to make the place nicer. And the food is as good as ever. The atmosphere is nothing fancy but who cares when they have best tacos in town. Fresh and hot and the wait is less than 5 minutes .Most times I get the tacos.fajita beef or sometimes the al pastor, carnitas or a Torta, which is huge .There's a salsa bar with has eight different salsas and a lot of other toppings. Including hard to find authentic, spicy pickled onions .If you haven't tried this place, you're really missing out.
