Me and my fiancé have been going to the Woodside bistro, mostly for takeout, for over a year now. We use to love it, and ordered almost every week or every other week last year! However, we have noticed that the quality has been very inconsistent in 2023. Last night for example, the food was absolutely awful. I was feeling unwell, so we did not feel like making a big deal out of it and decided to just take the L and not call in a complaint in or ask for a remake. The chicken entree was a bit dry, and the pork chop was so dry and hard that I feel like I was given a previously cooked pork chop that was reheated in the microwave. You can actually see how dry it was in the pic. I am not a picky eater, but I could hardly even chew this, let alone enjoy it. The truffle fries also tasted oddly soggy and oily, like they had been sitting around, and were dropped back in the fryer a second time to be reheated. The Mac and cheese was completely unseasoned and tasted like, well, nothing. It had no flavor, at all. It did not taste how it normally would. I tried to save it by adding some of our own seasoning on it, and it kind of helped. And the vegetables on the side were maybe thrown on the grill for less than a minute, and were pretty much uncooked and, again, unseasoned. Please note that our order was not ready when we came in to pick it up, and we came in around 15 mins after the order was placed, when we were told it would be ready. So I can’t imagine the food quality was a result of it sitting around waiting on us to pick it up. We also live right in front of the restaurant, a 2-4 minute walk away, so it shouldn’t have degraded in quality that quickly. I use to love this restaurant, but I don’t think we will be ordering from here again after that. At least, not for take out. If you eat here, eat inside the restaurant, where they are less likely to serve you subpar food. I will say, when the food is cooked correctly, it is really great. On a positive note, the server who took our order on the phone was very sweet and kind!

I had brunch today with two of my siblings and two of my nieces. It was a group choice to try Woodside Bistro. It’s located in west Greenville at the old Woodside Mill, that has also been turned into lofts. There are plenty of places to park, depending on what time you go. People that live at the lofts share the same parking lot. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, and brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. You seat yourself when you go in, high ceilings, concrete floors, rustic looking tables with chairs, booths, and tables with seats and a booth together. A nice sized full bar with stools was on one side of the restaurant, and some really nice art work was on the walls. After looking at the menu I decided on the Woodstar, it comes with two eggs(your way), bacon or sausage, grits or fruit. I got my eggs scrambled, bacon and lemonade to drink. The pancake was ok, it had slightly salty taste to it, the bacon was crispy. The grits weren’t runny, but they were lumpy, with lumps that had stuck to the pot(I cook grits and know what that looks like and how to keep it from happening). The brunch entrees are $15.00, the total cost of my meal was $19.38, there is a 4% charge for using a card as payment. The server was very friendly the food was only ok to me, just standard breakfast food, but it was nice to spend time with family.

A compilation of the two trips it took to have one lunch at Woodside Bistro. A few weeks back we tried for a Friday lunch and pulled up to find the place locked up- no sign, just closed. Called to make sure they were open this time, and the person said they’re “never closed on Friday unless we run out of food”. So, it’s one thing to cause an inconvenience, and another to deny it. Today’s visit would have been four stars on its own. I had the French Dip (Braised Short Rib, Caramelized Onions, Havarti Cheese, A1 Aioli, Grilled Hoagie- $16) because I’d heard from several folks how good it is. Meat was cooked perfectly, juicy and quite flavorful. Beware if you don’t like a lot of sodium, the au jus is quite salty. Both of my colleagues had the Club Salad (Ham, Turkey, Boiled Egg, Bacon, Cucumber, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese- $18), one with iceberg lettuce due to a spinach sensitivity. He commented that the quantity of protein was half of what it had been on a previous visit. The restaurant is located on the back side of the mill, with parking on both sides, but not immediately adjacent to the restaurant. We’ll certainly be back to give it another go.

I have been a huge fan of this restaurant since it opened in its original spot. I have been several times to its present location and have enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. That being said, I went two days ago and was very disappointed with the entire experience. I had tried calling ahead of time to get a reservation and the phone went unanswered which I thought was odd but decided to go in on a Saturday night without a reservation. Upon arrival I walked in about 6:45 and found not a soul eating or drinking there. Was quite surprised but said ok…it’s football season. The waitress was confused with the type of wine that was ordered and the hard liquor drink. We finally did get wine but gave up on the hard liquor because their selection was very limited in what I hd ordered. We ordered and the meals came in a timely manner. The vegetables were very good but the chicken was nothing special. I ordered salmon and tried to eat it but it was so salty I could only take a couple of bites. When the waitress cleared the dishes I told her the salmon was not edible. We received the bill and no one approached to ask more questions or apologize. I’m hoping this was just an off night for them but I won’t be returning anytime soon.

UPDATE: I was very impressed with Woodside Bistro as they reached out to me to discuss this review. Because they were so open to discussion they show that they care about their customer and the effect reviews have on Woodside Bistro. They admitted that it has been difficult to get help (which plagues every restaurant today) and are working to alleviate this problem. It was an off night and they are sorry this happened and that it wasn't addressed while we were there. Thank you Woodside Bistro for your honesty and willingness to be...

We chose Woodside Bistro to cater our wedding and were so incredibly happy we did.

We are from Charlotte, NC but like to visit Greenville and that is how we stumbled across Woodside. We visited the resturant before booking them for our big day and made the decision after visiting and having happy hour drinks and food, that we wanted to use them to cater our wedding.

From our first interaction to the day of our wedding, the team was very responsive and more than happy to make changes along the way.

Our wedding fell on the Saturday right after Hurricane Helene hit Greenville, SC. Many of our vendors had to cancel due to having no power so we fully expected the same from Woodside, as their resturant did not have power.

We were happily suprised when the morning of our wedding Woodside reached out to confirm they were still able to cater our big day.

Without Woodside’s amazing team, I don’t think we would have any possiblity of having a wedding reception with food, let alone the top quality service and food we did recieve. They pulled off amazing passed appetizers along with a plated dinner, cooking everything from the parking lot outside our venue (our venue was without power). How they were able to make the most amazing wedding food I have ever had is a mystery to me, they truly pulled off the impossible.

I could not recommend Woodside Bistro enough for either your next event or a nice date night. Their food and service is amazing, and the team truly cares about making your day amazing. Our wedding guests have many stories to tell from our hurricane wedding, but they all agreed they were most impressed by the food and team that made our reception happen.

Thank you again...
