I never write bad reviews but I had the worst experience here tonight…I ordered my food and picked it up…one item was missing all together…I ordered the hamburger which was listed under their taco section so I assumed it was a hamburger meat taco but they sent me 2 burgers…i ordered the beef brisket quesadilla and what was in my Quesadilla looks like Chicharrón…I called the restaurant and told them what happen and the women I spoke to told me that I was wrong and what’s in the quesadilla is beef brisket…I told her it wasn’t and she kept telling me I was wrong..I asked for a refund and she said she would have the owner call…he called me back very quickly but also proceeded to tell me I was wrong…I told Him that the meat that is in it is a white meat like pork…and he said his pork is shredded…I said It’s Chicharrón that is in my quesadilla and that is not shredded…and he said “so its chicharron and not pork?” Chicharron is pork…he then told me that his Mexican beef brisket is cubed and a white meat…and I told him beef brisket is a red meat…the arguing continued…I never write bad reviews and I normally enjoy their food but the customer service was the worst customer service I have ever experience in my life…I was never offered a new item, not even an apology…just that I was wrong…I attached a photo of the so called “special Mexican white meat...
Read moreStarted enjoying the food crafted by Carlos with the Yellow truck at Jackie Robinson Park nearly 15 years ago and what continues today is great Al Pastor reminiscint of Ciudad Juarez/El Paso personally I prefer a tostada over a taco as its just a great balance between the Pork Pineapple Cojita Cheese and Beans on a crispy flat tortilla but also great as a taco, sope or even a burrito. If you are not into Al Pastor or Carnitas, they do great Pollo (chicken) tacos or be adventurous and try one of the many other proteins offered.
With so many great taco spots in lower Fairfield County and I've tried quite a few, I return often to El Chilito as it is a hidden gem in Riverside that right behind the Mobil Station on Apache Drive.
Ask for both sauces with your order. They have a smooth very hot rojo and a more medium level green salsa (tip mix them to balance it out) really nice. If you like chunky salsa they offer it with Chips and even make a killer guacamole.
The true definition of a taco place is the care and attention to detail & Carlos and his team bring that every order. Look El Charrito is still around (@stamford town center food court open till 7pm) & its good too but El Chilito is the orginal and after 15 years I return consistently to 5 Apache Drive & the yellow truck at Jackie...
Read moreFood is still good, but they've gotten extremely dishonest with their pricing. Ordered over the phone while looking at the website prices , and when I came to pick up, the bill was significantly higher, with items being up to multiple dollars more expensive. When I questioned the total, the cashier stated that the menu prices are newer than those on the website and handed me a paper menu. If you've had the time to print a new menu, how could you possibly not have time to change website prices as well? Of course, no offer from her to honor the website prices. On top of that, after leaving and comparing my itemized receipt with the menu she handed me, I noticed that the charges on my receipt for some of the items were higher even than those on the paper menu she handed me! This is disgusting, insulting, underhanded behavior by this establishment. The restaurant has been reported to the BBB and chamber...
