The place has changed ownership, I'm told, and has changed quality with it.

My new coworkers took me to La Reata back around the early autumn of 2020. They spoke highly of it, and both the food and the services were very good.

I returned on my own in later in October and found everything had changed. I was eventually told that the business had been sold and the new team was now in place, but I didn't know that until I was leaving. No salsa bar, one overworked employee was handling all waitering duties and running the cash register, and the menu appeared to have changed at least somewhat. The food was ordinary and very delayed. Very curiously, the entrance door was marked with signage stating that it was not to be used as an entrance door, and pointed to the secondary door. That door had had its handle removed. While I stood there trying to figure out a way in, it turned out a pair apparently affiliated with the new company were sitting at the al fresco table next to the main door. Eventually they pointed to the main door and told me it was the entrance. I pointed to the sign and they acted surprised, like they'd never seen it. One of them finally stood up and removed the sign.

The whole experience felt like the new team had bought a business but had no idea what to do with it. Here's hoping they'll figure it out before driving away all...

If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. This place was my favorite for a long time and we were loyal customers. For my birthday, my family went here (six of us), and I ordered the carnitas tacos, which is my usual order. I snacked on chips and salsa, and then our meal came. Before I had a chance to try my meal, the owner walked by our table and asked how everything was. We all said "great!" and he went on.

When I tried the first bite, I realized the meat in my tacos was grisly and dry and had no flavor - tasted and looked like dried up cat food!

I called him over to mention that the meat was a little dry, and he wouldn't even let me finish my sentence before angrily saying, "I ASKED YOU BEFORE AND YOU SAY NOTHING! WHY ARE YOU SAYING THIS NOW?" and went on about how apparently the nasty food was my fault! (all this while I'm sitting there calmly and listening - no one raised their voice at him)

LONG story made a little shorter, I told him I didn't want anything else, and he refused to make eye contact with me or any of my family afterwards. We paid and left, and I'll never step foot in there...

I ordered a California burrito . When the food came it had an eyelash in the melted cheese. I totally understand that is just something that happens. But once I see it, I am done. Not gonna eat, loss of appetite. We let the owner know and he immediately apologized and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no, all is ok. When the bill came they did not charge for the California burrito. We had ordered two soft tacos with the 2 California burritos. They charged $4.00 a piece for the tacos. I just went online and looked at menu and they have 3 chicken tacos for $6.99. Not sure if they did that because I did not eat burrito but either way , we will not return. We have been there over a dozen times and enjoyed going because of food and how close it was to our house. I even tipped on how much the bill would of been with both burritos. It's not always the food to turn someone away, today it was...

Overpriced! Meat was not fresh. The 6oz. Thin sliced ribeye with fried beans and rice and a little bell peppers and tomatoes is $24.95. See the photo, I mixed the beans and rice, that is $24.95! The ribeye didn’t have a price on the menu so I thought it might be less than $20 but I was wrong. It tasted like it’s been sitting in the ref before it was cooked. The taco plate $9, did not look appetizing and small portion. See the photo, it was served like that. The meat was cheap, No salsa or tomatoes, cheese and lettuce on the side. I asked for the salsa and I was pointed to the bar to get it. I was hungry but I have to get up to get my own toppings! We will never come back to this restaurant. The place looks nice outside but old and dim inside. Sorry! I seldom leave a feedback and it’s negative. Zero stars!

I'll lead with saying, best tamales in the county. I ordered tacos as well, they brought me meat in a soft corn shell... Its kinda like, dress your own taco with whatever you want here. The steak wasn't fresh, it's like the same meat they use for everything. That part was disappointing... I was expecting some like sliced medium rare skirt or flank steak and it was just chopped well done steak from some unknown cut of beef (I hope) with a glossy grey hue to it. Food is relatively cheap, this is my second time here. Last time everything was just OK and this time much the same. They seem to take pride keeping the place clean. Still, I have no reason to come back. It's just ok. You can get just ok just about anywhere. Unless you're in the mood for a Tamale, than I suggest you get one here.

I hadn’t got around to writing a review yet but if you have not tried La Reata Authentic Mexican Restaurant you need to. Everything is incredible. Billie and I had our reception there almost a month ago exactly and they handled our party of 40ish Incredibly. None of our guests arrived quite at the same time but it did not phase them! One of the servers was sweet enough to get my daughter a plate of strawberries they use for margaritas when she begged. It’s a small gesture, but meant a lot. The small things are what matter to me and I can tell they matter to them to. Every part of our plates were delicious and the margaritas were also 😆 IYKYK! Best chimichanga around and don’t skip dessert!
