The place has changed ownership, I'm told, and has changed quality with it.
My new coworkers took me to La Reata back around the early autumn of 2020. They spoke highly of it, and both the food and the services were very good.
I returned on my own in later in October and found everything had changed. I was eventually told that the business had been sold and the new team was now in place, but I didn't know that until I was leaving. No salsa bar, one overworked employee was handling all waitering duties and running the cash register, and the menu appeared to have changed at least somewhat. The food was ordinary and very delayed. Very curiously, the entrance door was marked with signage stating that it was not to be used as an entrance door, and pointed to the secondary door. That door had had its handle removed. While I stood there trying to figure out a way in, it turned out a pair apparently affiliated with the new company were sitting at the al fresco table next to the main door. Eventually they pointed to the main door and told me it was the entrance. I pointed to the sign and they acted surprised, like they'd never seen it. One of them finally stood up and removed the sign.
The whole experience felt like the new team had bought a business but had no idea what to do with it. Here's hoping they'll figure it out before driving away all...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO STARS, I would. This place was my favorite for a long time and we were loyal customers. For my birthday, my family went here (six of us), and I ordered the carnitas tacos, which is my usual order. I snacked on chips and salsa, and then our meal came. Before I had a chance to try my meal, the owner walked by our table and asked how everything was. We all said "great!" and he went on.
When I tried the first bite, I realized the meat in my tacos was grisly and dry and had no flavor - tasted and looked like dried up cat food!
I called him over to mention that the meat was a little dry, and he wouldn't even let me finish my sentence before angrily saying, "I ASKED YOU BEFORE AND YOU SAY NOTHING! WHY ARE YOU SAYING THIS NOW?" and went on about how apparently the nasty food was my fault! (all this while I'm sitting there calmly and listening - no one raised their voice at him)
LONG story made a little shorter, I told him I didn't want anything else, and he refused to make eye contact with me or any of my family afterwards. We paid and left, and I'll never step foot in there...
Read moreI ordered a California burrito . When the food came it had an eyelash in the melted cheese. I totally understand that is just something that happens. But once I see it, I am done. Not gonna eat, loss of appetite. We let the owner know and he immediately apologized and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no, all is ok. When the bill came they did not charge for the California burrito. We had ordered two soft tacos with the 2 California burritos. They charged $4.00 a piece for the tacos. I just went online and looked at menu and they have 3 chicken tacos for $6.99. Not sure if they did that because I did not eat burrito but either way , we will not return. We have been there over a dozen times and enjoyed going because of food and how close it was to our house. I even tipped on how much the bill would of been with both burritos. It's not always the food to turn someone away, today it was...
