Guess who's back, back again, dad is back, at Monterrey Mexican restaurant in Taylors, South Carolina! As someone who has traveled extensively throughout the United States in search of the best Mexican cuisine, I must say that Monterrey has quickly become one of my favorite spots.
First and foremost, let's talk about the atmosphere. The restaurant has a warm, inviting feel, with vibrant colors and decor that transport you straight to Mexico. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or refill your drink. Whether you're dining with friends or family, Monterrey is a great spot to enjoy a meal and relax.
Now, let's move on to the food. Monterrey has an extensive menu with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for tacos, burritos, or enchiladas, you'll find something to satisfy your craving. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are always fresh and flavorful.
One of my personal favorites from the menu is the carne asada. The steak is cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of spices. It's served with rice, beans, and tortillas, making for a filling and satisfying meal. The guacamole is also a standout, with chunks of avocado mixed with fresh tomatoes and herbs.
Another dish that I highly recommend is the shrimp fajitas. The shrimp is cooked to perfection and served with sizzling onions and peppers. The dish comes with all the fixings, including sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole. It's a great option for those looking for a lighter meal or for seafood lovers.
If you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent, the queso fundido is a must-try. The melted cheese is served with chorizo and tortillas for dipping. It's a rich and flavorful appetizer that's perfect for sharing.
Finally, let's talk about the drinks. Monterrey has a great selection of margaritas and other cocktails, as well as a variety of Mexican beers. The frozen margaritas are a standout, with a variety of flavors to choose from. They're the perfect accompaniment to a spicy meal.
In conclusion, if you're looking for delicious Mexican cuisine in Taylors, South Carolina, Monterrey is definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the food is top-notch. Whether you're in the mood for tacos, fajitas, or margaritas, Monterrey has something for everyone. I highly recommend...
Read moreI do not write reviews but this one I feel I have to share. My family is from Monterrey, MX and this restaurant in no way shape or form portrays any ounce of my culture and it's Mexican food. The word "authentic" should not be associated with this restaurant.
I did not order your typical tacos, enchiladas, or fajitas. instead I opted for a combination dish with 1 chalupa, 1 tamale, 1 chile relleno. I apologize for the harsh critique but I can only describe this meal in 1 word, ASCO, I spit it out! The tamale was covered in mole- a tamale covered in mole? it should come in a corn husk so the maseca does not dry out. It was apparent the tamale was covered to hide how dry and tasteless it was. STIFF and completely inedible. Chile relleno, donde? covered under its sloppy substance of "beef" and cheese. The chalupa?? I think they forgot to put it on the plate. I can't make this up and I should've taken a picture. Everything on the plate was a mess by the time it got to the table. Which leads me to my next comment. Roughly 5-10 minutes after ordering the food came to the table and the chalupa was no where near crunchy. It seems as though our dishes were not prepared to order or they have super chef's working here. Frijoles? puro sal! Is the chef tasting anything before he puts it on the plate?
Cualquier Mexicano que venga aquí dirá lo mismo.
The owner(s) really need to make over-all adjustments to the back AND front of the house. Please tell the young man who sat us to put a smile on his face or quit his job por que tenia cara de huela cola.
I did not complain to the server and ask to have my meal sent back. I didn't even ask for the dish to be taken off the bill- I paid for it. I just didn't eat it. I have dined at this location once before and everything is the...
Read moreWent there to eat tonight after I got off work. The server was very slow. I was drinking tea and every time I needed tea I had to either flag him down or another one of the servers to get some more tea. The food was good as always. Went to pay. Gave him my debit card. He came back and said the debit card did not work. It was a brand new debit card. I told him I had just used it 2 days prior when I had stopped and ate lunch there. He took the card back in a few minutes. He came back with my receipt. I asked him what was the difference in that time and the time before you just walked off. I said I needed to speak to the manager. It was a female. She came to the table with an attitude and I gave her one right back. I asked for a number where I could call and complain about the service out of high received that night and she refused to give me one said she was the general manager and that I needed to talk to her if I had a problem. I told her what the problem was and she just told me I needed to get a new debit card. This is a new debit card. I've only had it for 3 days and there is nothing wrong with it because I have used it multiple places. She said it was the strip on the back because that is the only way they can use a debit card. I said well maybe y'all need to get up with the times and get one where it reached the chip. Just like I said she came to the table with an attitude and I gave her one back. I will be calling this restaurant tomorrow to speak to the manager or find out how I can speak to the manager or the owner of this location. Because of that is the kind of service she gives people when they have a problem with so the service at the restaurant she comes at you with an attitude. She does not need to be in...
