I wish I could go back in time, buy this place myself and could have properly carried on the Dea's legacy. Went here today for the first time since the big remodel. As soon as we opened the door we were in for a surprise. Everything has changed, from the large aircraft carrier type bar smack dab front and center, to the big screen tv's everywhere, it was more like a sports bar now. Very dark due to all of the windows covered in advertising stickers and not family friendly. Gone was the one decades old tube tv hanging on the wall displaying Keno, to the cozy booths. Gone was just waiting in line at the counter, having conversations with the kitchen crew, then looking at the white board with red plastic letters advertising what Dea's had to offer and simply ordering my double without (no onions), a large fry and sauce, large Coke. Now a server comes to your table, takes the order, and now you have to include a tip that increases an already expensive meal. Gone was the iconic burger wrapped in a napkin and placed inside a white paper bag. Now every burger comes cut in half, with lettuce, tomato, and onion all of which I do not want, laying in a metal basket with a few fries. Much to our disappointment, the buns have changed, the iconic sauce has changed, even the fries were different. My daughter ordered Mac & cheese, it was more soup than noodles, only ate one bite, the waitress saw she did not eat a bite and did not say a thing. I can't understand for the life of me why people buy a well established restaurant and change everything? Is it because of too many shows on the Food Network and these owners think they need to be more iconic, or feel the need to change everything to draw in a more diverse crowd in the hopes Guy Fieri might pay them a vist? The old Dea's is what people want and have come to expect over the last 70+ years. I myself started coming here with my mom and dad back in the early 1970's , and have since been coming here with my family since the early 2010's. Granted, we have not been here since covid and have been waiting for the dining room to open since we did not want to eat using the drive thru because we now live in Vancouver. Sadly will not be back. I was looking forward to carrying along a family tradition and coming here with grandkids and letting them feast on a delicious long burger. To the new crowd just now trying this place, you don't know...
Read moreI can not say enough good things about Dea's In & Out. If you have yet to check this place out, you're missing out. And if you have been here before, like me you'll be back for more😁My husband and I bought our home here in Gresham in 2005 and for the first month we spent day after day sanding, staining and painting a majority of our new home. I will never forget my first long burger; my husband, who was a resident of gresham when I met him, announced he realized he hadn't treated me to a long burger yet and was going to fix that immediately. He quickly returned with what is most accurately described as the world's best burgers, tater tots that were crispy on the outside and piping hot and ice cold cherry coke. Immediately I was hooked. That was the first of many fond memories we have of Dea's. Every employee over the span of 20 years has been a pleasure to be around and has delivered fast and friendly customer service. The food has always been high quality at a fair price that you can quickly pick up at the drive through window. I know because I did the other day on my way home from bailing my puppy out of jail😂 Long story short, it had been a rough day and I balanced out the bad with the goodness from Dea's! Can it be any better than that? The impromptu date my husband and I enjoyed recently in the lounge side of Dea's In and Out, is the inspiration behind me telling you yes, yes it can. We stopped in to enjoy a spirited drink and next time we go we plan on getting there before 9pm to snack on appetizers or enjoy a meal. There's music playing in the back ground and it's perfect to socialize or play video poker, or watch sports on a big screen. There's even a covered outdoor space to enjoy. Thank you to all of the staff, keep up the good work and we'll...
Read moreCame in Saturday at the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the Ducks and Colorado game. We looked in the front area which looks more like a sports bar than the family restaurant it used to be, there were only 3 people in there. We always sit in the back bar so went and sat down, bartender came right out and brought menus and got our drink order. The bartender brought our drinks and asked if we wanted to order, I thought we would get a starter as they had some new items since the last time we were in. The smoked salmon dip sounded good and being the most expensive item on the menu and only a starter I figured it must be fabulous. We waited and waited and waited, finished our drink and ordered another and still hadn’t got our starter. We were mid way into the 4th quarter of the game so we had been waiting for an appetizer for 40 + minutes. There was no one ordering food the entire time that we were waiting so there was no back up or other orders. The bartender started checking every so often. The dip finally came out and what a joke for a smoked salmon dip, it looked like a preformed mixture of something in the form of a very small fish. It wasn’t horrible tasting but not what I expected for the price and yes I know what things cost as we eat out 4 nights a week. There were some various types of crackers around the stuff, one of the crackers were a handful of gold fish crackers. Unless you are 5 years old who eats gold fish crackers especially with a smoked salmon dip. A huge disappointment to what used to be a good place to go. We are done and will not recommend...
