We went to eat here for Mother's Day with a group of 10 people. We arrived at 6pm, and did not have a reservation, but the male hostes was very polite and told us that it would be a 40 minute wait. We got our name on the list and waited outside since the restaurant was busy. After about 45 minutes, I went inside to take my daughter to the restroom. The male hostess said we were next and about to get our table. We waited more time and nothing, I kept seeing other big groups that came after us being sat. I asked what happened and the same male hostess said he was trying to seat us but the male manager was doing his own thing, he was seating other groups and skipped us. The male manager said he had a table reserved for 7pm and he was giving them 5 minutes, if they did not show up, then the table was ours. The manager also said he would give us 20% off the ticket for all the inconvenience and extra wait time. We ended up getting that table at 7:05pm. We all ordered drinks and food. One of our guest ordered a Michelada that never arrived. We started getting food at 8:20pm expect for one person, they made her the wrong plate. The food runner came to us two different times asking us what was her food order. She waited 15 more minutes to get the correct plate. While this was all happening our waitress never came to check on us. I flagged down a girl that was running food and had to ask her for water cups, and another drink we wanted to order. She said she would get it for us. We kept waiting and waiting and got nothing. I saw my waitress across from us hugging and talking to people at another table like nothing. I put my hand up to see if she saw me, she did see me but kept walking into the kitchen. She came out and went to the same tables to drop of drinks, and then came to me. I told her we were waiting for water cups and drinks. She said she would look at the computer and see if they were put in. She came back and said they were not but she was on it. When it was time to leave I got the check, which was a little over $400, I knew gratuity was going to be added since we were a big group. But they had charged us for the Michelada we never got and the discount was not there. I asked to speak to the male manager, she said what was wrong and she could help. I told her about the Michelada and about the discount that was offered to us by the manager. She comes with a new receipt and said she took the Michelada off and took $40 off the bill. I told her that was not the 20% off like the manager said, she got mad and said "what that's not enough you still want more money off." I felt super embarrassed and just gave her the card to pay. I did tell her to give me the original receipt too. When I walked out to the front, I ended up talking to the same male hostess that was really nice, because the male manager was somewhere else. I told him how upset I was and how bad of an experience we had overall. He apologized and recognized we had very bad service overall. He said he would talk to his manager after everything was more calm and asked to keep both receipts I gave him my number and he was going to reach out, he said he was going to try and get us a full refund. I said I didn't need a full refund, just the 20% the manager promised and for them to acknowledge everything that happened. Specially with our waitress, which the hostess told me she was also like a manager too. I the time of me writing this review, I still have not heard back from them. It is a shame on this restaurant that we had this experience, specially knowing the managers were part of this bad experience, and did not care to make the situation right or make us feel valued...

We visited last weekend for the first time. I was just looking for some Mexican food with good reviews, and I was honestly not expecting it to be this good. I've tried quite a few places in Oregon, and most do not hit the spot. This one though, oh man, I'm coming back for sure. Eugene needs a place like this, I can't be driving 2 hours to eat here...but I just might.
First of all, the place is pretty nice. It gives me a Mexican modern/coastal vibe. It's casual enough for families to go and eat but has an upscale feel that would be great for a date. The decor is bright and airy, and makes me feel like this place would be overlooking the beaches in Rosarito or Playa Del Carmen. The music playing in the background was also pretty good, it was bachata when we went.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Once we were seated, chips and salsas were dropped off at our table within a few minutes. The chips were good, but the salsa was really good. We got two kinds, and although I'm not sure what kind of salsas they were, I can say that they were a delicious botana before our food.
Unfortunately, we didn't order any cocktails since we were having to drive back to Eugene after our meal. I'm going to have to go back and give them a shot...or two..or three (pun intended).
The food? Ohhhh man, the food was not what we were expecting. It was better than we thought. My wife ordered the Torre De Mariscos, which was a big plate of seafood. It was so good. Honestly, the best mariscos plate I've had in Oregon.
My suegra (mother-in-law) ordered the whole fried tilapia, which was also a hit. It was cooked very well. Crispy and flavorful on the outside, but delicate and flaky inside. Put some fish on a handmade tortilla, some lime, and their delicious beans, and you'll be licking your fingers.
I ordered something I NEVER order at a restaurant, because I'm usually left disappointed. I'm not really sure why I did it, but I asked for the fajitas de res. I think I just wanted to try something different, and a plate of sizzling carne asada with vegetables potentially sounded good. Everyone else's food came out first, and as I saw their plates, I was really hoping that mine would smell, look, and taste as good as theirs. Well, guess what? When my plate hit the table, I knew I chose a good spot for dinner. That plate was sizzling, the smell was killing me, and I dug right in. It was so good. I mean, really good. The salad that came with it was also delicious, and the beans? Oh, the beans felt like home. There's no doubt about it, this place has got to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I've had in Oregon. I know, I know, there's an insane amount of places I have yet to try, but this one is at the top of MY list.
All three of us were in agreement, that although the prices seemed a bit expensive at first sight, it was clear that they were priced just right for the quality, taste, and service you get. I've paid more at other places and walked out feeling like it was a waste. Not here though, this was worth every dollar. I do hope that this will be my experience EVERY TIME, because I plan on making more trips to La Villa...
Read moreWent there on a Saturday night (8 PM) with a reservation made thru Google, and it was pleasantly not too busy! The place looked very pretty. The service was welcoming. The drinks I picked were sweet and tasty (the blue margarita and the mango one). It's very spend-y for food, but the gigantic portions even that out. I tried the flan, and it was good too!
Some things that were a bit off to me were how they dimmed the lights at one point for idk how long, and it was just a bit too dark. Didn't fit the vibe.
Also, I think that when you order shots, the workers will simply yell "shots, shots, shots" a bunch of times until you drink it, I think. It felt very awkward to listen to, bc the workers don't completely commit to the bit, drifting off into silence while chanting, then starting up again. eesh. =-=' And all this noise is like an sudden eruption bc the building isn't very loud, bc not really any music playing too loudly.
Overall, I think it's a pretty enough space, friendly staff and pretty attentive to tables, the food was good, although the cooked shrimp were a bit dry, and the drinks were pretty.
Maybe re-think the shots thing? Either that, or have them really commit to it, or make the music in the building louder to help mask how sudden it is...
