After reading about Tan Dinh in the New York Times of all places. It was an article about the hidden gems of New Orleans. I knew that we had to give it a try. So, we headed to Gretna on the Westbank to dine Vietnamese style. Upon arriving, I could tell it was going to be good, there were all the signs of a good Vietnamese restaurant. The pungent smell of fish sauce, long row a table’s pushed together with a large family dining. Good enough for the whole family. As I watched the kids at the big table play air drums with their chop sticks, I looked over the menu items. The menu is vast, but I found it was translated well. We started off with some Shrimp Spring Rolls and Chicken Wings with a sweet chili sauce covering them. Both were exceptional and I probably could have taken a couple dozen of those wings home with me. That would have been a meal to itself. But we were here to try more than just the wings. I ordered a Bun Bowl of shrimp and pork with vegetables and vermicelli noodles. Charla ordered the short ribs. Both were very large and easily shareable between a few people. The food was delicious, and portions were large. If you have never tried Vietnamese food this would be the place to go. The menu is well done in English and Vietnamese and the waitress was very knowledgeable. So come hungry because you get a lot of food. I hope you enjoy it as...
Read moreCame her months ago and had a horrible experience. Tried again today because we wanted to satisfy our stomachs with chicken soup... big mistake. We ask the waiter to make sure there is no “nuoc beo” in the broth. When the food is brought out, the broth was drowned in nuoc beo (fat). It took 5 minutes til I was able to flagged down a waiter. Was told that the soup was already pre made like that.. end of story. The owners son I believe, passed by our table. This is him going pass us already. With no thought in mind, I would never think he would come to our table brought a small plate and kinda threw it on the table, took the napkin that my other party used to manually take the fat out and placed it on the plate rudely, then rudely asked the person if they wanted the kitchen to take it out for her. First off, my appetite was ruined by his rude gestures and comments, two was told by the waiter that it was pre made like that and there was no way to take it out... in all this was yet again a horrible experience and I will never come back and yeah one person not going back doesn’t affect the restaurant but if the employees and managers who run this place with attitudes like that it will definitely affect...
Read moreIf you want AUTHENTIC VIETNAMESE FOOD, THIS IS THE SPOT 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 We ordered the Thai Tea with Tapioca & 1 Taro drinks, Lemongrass Chicken Spring Rolls, Fried Pork Spring Rolls, the Fried Spring Rolls are AUTHENTIC (wrapped in rice paper & fried, not the thin egg roll paper everywhere else has) & we requested lettuce to wrap our fried spring rolls in & they had some 💜, also ordered Ka Kho To (Catfish in the house sauce in a Clay Pot) which I am beyond impressed and Critical, Chef did an amazing job on recreating a VERY Nostalgic Old Vietnamese dish, which most places don't make anymore. Also ordered the Grilled Pork with rice & pickled veggies, the pork was large pieces, perfectly seasoned, grilled to perfection & juicy on the inside. The entire staff was welcoming, very helpful & alert to our needs, sweet, attractive young ladies, the chef came out to mingle. Extremely clean establishment, and restrooms. I have zero complaints!!! It's so difficult to find authentic Vietnamese food & this will be our to go place when we're in town 💜💜💜 Thank you all so much for such a wonderful experience with my children & I, WE WILL BE BACK!!! MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL, DON'T...
