I finished my business in Detroit and had an hour or so to kill. I decided to look for local coffee along the way. It was cold and damp and coffee sounded like just the thing. Checking Google, I found Morning Glory Coffee - and what a find! From the minute I walked in the door I knew this was my kind of place. The lighting was warm and cozy, and I could see the wood furniture and wood surroundings that set a great tone and spoke to my soul. Then looking a little farther along I saw the pastry counter. I wasn't looking for pastry, though I admit I almost wavered seeing the fabulous pastries with their beautiful designs and various shapes. I pulled myself away and a little farther along and found the coffee counter! Just what I was looking for! The menu was about what you would expect and I ordered a latte. I headed back toward the entrance where I remembered seeing a fireplace behind glass with an impressive flame. The table for two in front of the fireplace was available, so I plopped down, took off my jacket, and just melted into the environment. I didn't even look at my phone for 10 minutes. A record for me probably. I just closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of the people talking and chatting as they ate their pastries and drank their coffee. Very relaxing after my drive there and in anticipation of my drive to the Detroit airport. The coffee was fabulous - just what I needed. So after 30 minutes or so I resumed my journey to catch my big old jet airliner.
If you're looking for a quaint coffee shop, this is just the place for you. The staff was excellent and the fair was perfect. If you're in town shopping, and you need a place to stop for a break, possibly with a friend, you will find this an excellent resting locale. I highly recommend Morning...
Read moreMy first AND LAST experience at Morning Glory! I walk into this beautiful establishment to find myself about to be astonished. I walked up to the counter and was ignored by three people behind the counter. I ask for a cannoli and was once again overlooked. Finally I gain the attention of one girl. She seemed almost intoxicated with her speech and responses. I asked her if she had iced coffee, she rolled her eyes and said "well…yeah…no!" and walks away! I was stunned! I asked another employee for the cannoli and after much time he got it. I didn't get any coffee because none of the employees wanted to help. On my way out, I met the worst employee of all, a short dark haired women yelling and screaming. She screamed like she was about to have a myocardial infarction. She yelled and kicked and screamed like a baby. She looked to be the manager no less! I quickly ran to my car and drove to the police station. I was very excited about having a new coffee shop in the Hill and was counting the days down. What a disappointment! I have never felt so unwelcome in my life! If you want coffee, go to Starbucks (at least they are friendly and have more that one coffee choice). If you want a cannoli, go to Bommarito's. If you want real pastries, go to Josef's. If you want to feel undesirable, unwelcome, disgusted and, disappointed, go to...
Read moreHi 💕 I really want to support your company and not Starbucks. Panera is out of the question for coffee bc it’s always lukewarm or room temp.
I recently got plain coffee and it was just warm, not hot. Coffee, in order for it to be enjoyable MUST be HOT. On the verge of burning your tongue, but not quite kind of hot. Obviously I don’t need to explain this, everyone knows this already.
PLEASE, serve HOT coffee 🙏. I also notice they are served in styrofoam cups, which are quite toxic.
“ Studies show that styrene, a likely carcinogen, can leach from polystyrene foam cups and containers when heated. Never put hot food/drink into polystyrene foam containers” Quoted from CEHN (Children’s Environmental Health Network)
PLEASE just use paper cups. Remember, this isn’t Eastpointe, this is Grosse Pointe. Basic quality is needed.
Also, the macarons looked horrible, extreme amounts of filling. Like I said, basic quality is needed to be a business in...
