I watched a male employee drop my sandwich on the floor, the sandwich came at least 1/3 out of the bag to the point that he had to shimmy the food back in the bag, he then picked it up and handed it to me. I have a thing about the floor because I work in healthcare. I asked for another sandwich, the cashier asked him to remake it. I don’t play with my food. No way that the same person who committed the atrocity would handle my food again. I then asked for a refund. The owner or manager responded aggressively, literally yelling at me first calling me a liar then attempting to justify the man unapologetically dropping my food on the floor. I have never been so disrespected by an owner/manager of an establishment. I don’t want to assume that she was so rude because I am a black woman but it feels like the only variable seeing how she has so many glowing reviews. The owners were so helpful and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent and the cupcakes were out of this world! Wow! I stopped into The Sugar Bar for a quick coffee and ended up staying an hour. The owners were incredibly welcoming and served an excellent Brown Sugar Latte. Their coffee knowledge is off the charts—you can truly taste the love in every sip.
Beyond the coffee, I highly recommend grabbing a dessert or a sandwich. The space is clean, bright, and comfortable—you won’t want to leave!
