Big Boy — Restaurant in Grosse Pointe Woods

I was very disappointed with our dining experience. The resturant smelled very dirty! There was a dirty pan catching a leak in the ceiling in the middle of the doorway. The portions were extremely small and after eating the tiny fish and 2 sides I was not satisfied at all. I ordered two eggs after I finished my meal because i wanted more food. The eggs were runny and undercooked and I couldn’t eat them. . The service was ok but we weren’t even given water and only one honey for my tea. My husbands order looked smaller than a kids meal. I could count the fries there were so few. He wasn’t full either I suggested he get some pie which looked old the whipped cream was cracking and dried out . They must be trying to save money by being skimpy and greedy with the food. I was even asked if I wanted butter for my potato’s and vegetable normally they would just kindly give you some butter, but they even asked if I wanted jelly and gave me One. Never had such an unpleasant dining experience. I’m not certain how much longer this place will be in business? I wish them the best ,but I won’t be going there again!!!. I should have taken a picture of the fish it was almost laughable that they would serve such a tiny piece of fish. I asked if it was a lunch portion and if dinner was a more generous and reasonable portion. ?The nostalgic Big boy I once knew is history either closed or run down and dated and unkept. Was there with 3 other people who actually ordered a meal and I only wanted dessert which was a brownie and ice cream with hot chocolate fudge. Presentation of dish was horrible which should have been sign to leave. When I touch the fudge it was cold and no way had it been warmed so I sent it back and cancelled order. Someone else order fish with mash potatoes with gravy on side. Potatoes were cold so she ask for more in which she had already started eating her fish but not potatoes. The waitress saw her eating her fish and told her she needed to take the whole plate back. She responded well I'm eating my fish can you just bring Potatoes and she responded no I have to first take those back. She ask waitress are you replacing my fish too and the waitress responded she was not and still refused to bring another plate of potatoes until other plate was returned which didn't make since. The fish ended Up being put on a side plate she had and potatoes returned half way through her eaten fish. To make a longer story even shorten the manager was summoned and concerned voiced without any real resolved. $3.00 was taken off of meal without (which the person suggested something be taken off and manager wanted to take $1.00) no resolved to bad dessert that was returned. Not even would you like anything else. Will not visit this...

Family orders simple meal. While waiting for food we discovered DIRTY SILVERWARE. Requested 2 mugs of hot water to sterilize them. By then, ORDER COMES BACK WRONG except for a couple dishes. Waitress assures us that the mixup can be corrected. Food COMES BACK WITH HAIR IN IT. We sent that dish back and decided to just finish up what was there until we noticed MORE HAIR IN ANOTHER DISH. The manager is then notified and replies, "my cooks all have blond hair", "we hadn't had this issue today and I don't know what's going on now." Regardless of the matter, the hair certainly didn't match any of ours and was exact to the hair in the last dish. So in all, with dirty dishes, unprofessional service, disgusting food with hair in it and a careless manager, I paid for the portion of the meal that was correct when I should've refused. My family and I frequent this place too much to receive mediocre service like this. Something has to be done and changes need to be made quickly.
