First off I would like to mention that I am Greek, so I've grown up eating and cooking Mediterranean food. I find very few businesses that know how to make a Gyro Sandwich. Some I think buy those little frozen strips and just grill them and they are awful. Many places add very little lamb. Many businesses I think get their tzatziki sauce out of a jar. The sauce should be fresh and made from scratch. This can make or break a Gyro. I was so happy when I found Pita Hut! Best Gyros I've found in Central Florida. They put tons of meat in them and they are flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The Pita bread is soft and fresh and the veggies appear to be freshly cut. The tzatziki sauce is delicious and I typically order extra. I have also found I can order full trays of Baklava over the holidays which saves me a lot of time and work. When I picked it up it was still warm and just out of the oven. It's every bit as good as my own and so fresh. The honey sauce is perfect. The owner is always sweet and accommodating. A very nice man! And the prices are super reasonable! I have a huge family and we order frequently. I must say that I could not cook a dinner for less than eating out at Pita Hut. I highly recommend this business and love to support small...
Read moreAbout a year ago, my husband stopped by the Pita Hut while he was in Groveland. He RAVED about! Went on and on about it! He loved the food and the owner made him feel welcome. Well today I finally got to try it for myself, and my goodness it is fantastic! We shared a classic gyro since we are traveling and it is THE BEST gyro Iâve ever had! The pita is fresh, had lots of meat that was seasoned perfectly, and crisp veggies with delicious tzatziki! While there, we tried the fries (salted perfectly) and honey cake (Iâm not a huge fan of coconut but even I would eat this again)!
I rated the atmosphere a 2 only because there is essentially no atmosphere, but none is needed. Itâs just a hole in the wall joint with good food and friendly owners. They have a picnic table and a few other patio sets to eat at (which we used) and that is usually when you know the food is about to be good!
We shouldâve gotten a pic but we were so hungry and it smelled too good...
Read moreGeneral appearance needs improving: The tent area tarp and front of the truck need pressure washing as covered with black mold. The signage/menu board needs repaired with all the missing letters. Ant spray to rid the large ants on the signage near the serving window. A little landscaping and general clean up would go a long way. The Food needs a little improving, not much: 1/2 less meat in the pita so that the ratio is correct. The too much meat is ruining the experience. A new Tzatziki recipe that actually contains flavor. This sauce had zero flavor. What was already good? The meat was cooked perfectly, the fries were excellent. The salad topping was very nice. The pita bread was soft and good quality. In summary, I wanted to like the place, but given the lack of care to the outside I can't. If the simple improvements were done. I'd give it...
