Shang Hai — Restaurant in Gulf Breeze

Stopped by this place on my way to work yesterday with my 3 year old daughter. We entered and the cashier immediately greeted us with a pleasant smile. Me and my daughter sat down in the back and the cashier came and gave us a menu. There was a large variety of choices including vegan options. While ordering, I was afraid to ask many questions about ingredients in the dishes but the worker was very joyful to answer. She assured me the cooks can add or remove any ingredients in the dishes to fit my needs.

The restaurant was clean and we came during dinner time so not many people came in, quiet atmosphere. Food arrived around 10-15 minutes after ordering, piping hot. Solid 8/10. We ordered a sweet and sour chicken combination with an egg drop soup and steamed dumplings. Daughter enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken very much.

I’m new to the area and ordered delivery from this place last resort due to limited Chinese restaurants. My husband ordered chicken wings and vegetable fried rice. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and it was the worst food I ever had in my life. I normally enjoy this Chinese dish very much but the version I received from this restaurant was atrocious to say the least. I was looking forward to the red pepper but didn’t received it. I was looking forward to spiciness- didn’t received it. I mainly received CELERY! Peanuts and celery and bland nasty looking chicken! I couldn’t dare fix my mouth to eat another bite. One bite was enough for me to take the food to the nearest trash can. Customer service was decent and my husband wings were good. Bottom line: I would never order from this...

My wife orderd food from these idiots today for lunch and they were TWO HOURS LATE. The delivery guy knew no English at all and therefore didn't give any explanation as to why it was late, then when she called the restaurant the lady on the phone acted like she didn't understand English either but my wife, who has dealt with this place before, let her know that she knew that the lady knew how to speak English and would not be getting off the phone until she quit her bs. lol at that time she offered us a 15% discount on our next meal and would not refund us.
