4.5 stars. Delicious breakfast!
We came for a suuuuuper late breakfast/brunch at around 11:45 on a Saturday two weeks ago. Even then, they were still slammed! We were told only a 15-20 minute wait. Our hungry party of 8 whined at me but I insisted -- I've had Kitty's on my Yelp bookmark list for forever!
We enjoyed looking at the cute animal themed decorations in the interior while we waited. So many cute pictures and fun art and visual gags. Fortunately for us, the restaurant was running like a well-oiled machine and we were seated at a lovely table outside within our dining window. Yay!
Service was prompt and extremely efficient while still maintaining a polite and friendly demeanor. Our massive amount of food came out quickly and they kept our refills topped up! I heard one of the ladies waiting on another table be addressed as Kitty herself -- it makes me happy to see owners working in their own restaurants! Go, Kitty!
Our orders spanned a whole lot of the menu, from breakfast to lunch -- breakfast platters, biscuits, pancakes, patty melts, even a chicken and dumplings lunch special. All but one thing was good!
The one item that wasn't a hit was the cornbread. It was strange -- absolutely zero flavor (neither salty nor sweet), and very dry. Other than that, it was all a hit!
Items I remember being standout popular were the patty melt and the chicken and dumplings themselves.
I got the breakfast platter that came with eggs, potatoes, a meat, and a pancake. I was indulging myself this vacation so I also ordered a biscuit -- need that with a big breakfast! :)
My scrambled eggs and bacon were both cooked almost exactly to my liking. A little hot sauce on the eggs gave them what little pizazz they were missing. Crystal hot sauce -- good stuff! I wish my potatoes had been a tiny bit warmer but I enjoyed the little bits of onion and red pepper in there! Biscuit was crispy on the top, fluffy in the middle, and went great with jam! My pancake soaked a looooot of syrup but it too was quite tasty.
This was my preferred breakfast spot of our visit by a good margin. I would definitely highly recommend here, and would be happy to return during another vacation. Thanks,...
Read more(Visited in January 2017) - We got up early so we could go to this restaurant and try breakfast, hoping for some great food after reading all the reviews. Unfortunately, we should have slept in.
First, it's very, very crowded as they've pushed tables together in an effort to serve as many people as possible in a small venue. So plan to make new friends and join in their conversations.
At the very least, when ordering a traditional breakfast, I would expect just that. I ordered two eggs, scrambled hard, bacon, toast, grits and a side order of gravy. The eggs, toast and bacon were fine, but the grits were very soupy and so salty I couldn't eat them (nor could my wife eat hers) and we're both very salt-tolerant. The gravy had even more salt in it...and tasted like someone had literally dumped a full tablespoon of salt into a four-ounce cup of gravy. My wife had the same breakfast, but with a pancake. The pancake was very good, even though the syrup was cold.
We've eaten breakfast at many restaurants in this area and they've all been very good...except this one. Perhaps the good reviews come more from lunch patrons, but we will never return nor recommend...
Read moreIf you are somebody with no physical limitations and do not plan to bring anyone with physical limitations, this may be a fine place to eat at a reasonable price. However, if you or somebody in your party needs to use a wheelchair or a walker, you might get by provided that that person will at no time need to use the restroom. While the building itself is designed to accommodate a wheelchair, those that work there have partially blocked the hallway to the men's and women's restrooms with a great many high chairs and some boxes. If all the obstructions in the hallway were removed, one would still find it very difficult, if not impossible, to get a wheelchair between the bathroom sink and the very large wooden cabinet inside the restroom. The wooden cabinet is huge and would not be easy, even for able bodied restaurant staff, to move aside. While not all of us require wheelchairs or walkers, those of us who have at one time or another needed to rely on them, or loved someone that did, may be disappointed that so little regard, or outright disregard, has been shown to those who do need...
