We brought our two grandchildren (4 yo and 5 yo) to Nonna’s. We were greeted kindly and she brought them coloring sheets and crayons (thank goodness).
We placed our order at 6:50. (1 small cheese pizza, 1 small pizza with 3 meats, 1 small margherita). We also got 4 fountain drinks which were self-serve in styrofoam. I felt like for the cost of the pizza ($64), we should have had nicer glasses, but it was fine.
After 40 minutes of waiting, a lady brought us garlic knots on the house. They were warm and tasty. I thought that was a nice gesture and assumed our food was coming up.
Seated facing the kitchen, I watched them send out NUMEROUS to-go orders. One order was for 7 pizzas. All the while, the restaurant was full of people who were not eating the pizzas they ordered. As people came in, they were greeted with “There’s about an hour wait.”
At 57 minutes of waiting, the same lady brought another order of garlic knots. The grandchildren enjoyed them, of course, but I knew they were filling up on those.
At 7:51, the same lady said our pizza was 10 minutes away from being ready. At 8:04 she brought us plates and said again, “Pizza is almost ready.”
At 8:11, she brought the cheese pizza. At 8:13, she brought the 3 meat pizza. At 8:18, she brought the margherita pizza.
The pizzas were average. The taste of the sauce is actually excellent. The crust is VERY crunchy because it was blackened in the underside, which is fine if you like a semi-burned, crunchy crust! I know some people do. The margherita pizza had about a tablespoon of chopped basil on it. The cheese was fine. The pizzas were definitely not authentic or better than any other pizza in the immediate area.
The atmosphere is nothing special, but was clean. There’s no bar and no alcohol served there, which to me is not appropriate for a pizzeria with these prices.
$64 for three 10 inch pizzas that we waited an hour and a half for is NOT WORTH it. I was not pleased with the value to portion at all.
As a person with experience in the restaurant business, I suggest this restaurant choose to-go only or dine-in only. It is obvious that their oven is not large enough to accommodate both. It’s also obvious that knowing how to make pizza does not mean you know how to run...
Read moreSo the reason why they're getting three stars is because I thought the pizza was very good, but tonight was not a good night at Nonna's. First their layout inside to make pizza is not going to work, they have just enough room for one person to make pizzas and the ovens are close to the counter. The ovens were never more than half full of any point why I was there for almost an hour waiting for pizza that was supposed to be done 30 minutes prior. And unfortunately the gentleman who was running the oven, I believe it's the son of the owner, was not having a good night. I've worked in retail for 35 years the one thing you should always realize is the customer is always right... even when the customer isn't right. DON'T argue with a customer just take care of them and get them out your door. The more you argue in front of your customers the more likely they will not be back. I watched a very uncomfortable situation unfold over a pizza. Remember it's just a pizza, even when they're wrong just take care of them. I felt bad for the son, never fun to have a customer who is not very nice, but you have to just get them out the door and move on. Also they need to fix their POS system it tells a customer that the pizza is going to be ready in 30 minutes what actually it's going to be well over an hour, lots of unhappy customers waiting. I truly want them to succeed because I think their Pizza is great!! But I couldn't give them five stars because they have lots of things to fix before the busy...
Read moreWent here tonight for dinner and while the pizza was ok the service was not. It was hard to tell if the pizza was really top notch since the order was wrong and I spent a while picking off the topping I absolutely do not like. We ordered a Greek salad with no onion and a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, artichoke hearts and half feta. Salad was fresh and the balsamic dressing very yummy, waited over 30 mins for the pizza which got dumped on the table when they brought it out. Ok, fine, maybe he was new and learning. At that time they weren’t busy in the restaurant and no one even came out to apologize. Waited another 15 mins for a new pizza and by then we were starving, it shows up with onions (🤮) instead of mushrooms. By now they’re getting busy and I really didn’t want to wait for a new pizza since they hadn’t even apologized for the first mess so we spent five mins trying to pick off the onions to eat it but it really ruined the flavor if you aren’t an onion person. I would say the crust was good but the onions overpowered everything so it’s really hard to rate it. What was most disappointing was the people running the place couldn’t even bother to apologize for the first mess when they weren’t even busy at that time so we figured they probably wouldn’t care about the wrong...
