As a budget family we plan our week vacation every summer out perfectly. We go to eat out only once. We always want to try a new place with our two young sons. This year we choose to come here. When we first arrived we were focused to wait out in the heat due to them not having a waiting area inside. Then once we were seated we were told we have to share a 4-5 person booth. We had 4 adults and two kids and we aren’t very small people. We managed though and didn’t complain. Then we ordered our drinks and food. As the food comes out I realize my 5 year old son doesn’t have his meal. My MIL got the attention of our waitress, sadly we didn’t get her name. We then inform her we didn’t receive his food. She then try’s to plan the kitchen. The food runner was already in the kitchen getting his food. Once she goes back to the kitchen, to food runner returns and tells us our waitress didn’t enter his food. Okay understand people make mistakes. Still we don’t complain. We wait for his food. I share mine with him because I won’t eat until my children are eating. Once my food is gone and his meal still hasn’t appeared. My MIL stops the waitress and asks if we can have it removed from the bills. She then replies with “why”. Because he did get to eat his meal with us. The professionalism of this waitress was completely uncalled for. She rolls her eyes at us and tells my MIL “ok since you can’t afford it” this was by far a complete waste of our time and money. We will never be back. We love gulf shores. We come every other year. This was our 4 year. This being the only place we ate out was a very sad experience. We paid our bill. Still left a tip even though she didn’t deserve it tbh. But I understand everyone has bills to pay. I just hope she gets some training and they consider a...
Read moreFirst...I'm a Ducks fan - the Canal Rd location is awesome! They are super friendly, super efficient, and the food is always very good. This new location in Gulf Shores (formerly Hazels) falls FAR SHORT of Canal Rd. We visited between 8-9am on 2/13/25. The restaurant was NOT busy...about 1/2 full. The wait staff was friendly to begin with. Our order was not complicated - eggs, pancake, French toast, both with bacon. It took almost 40 minutes from order to arriving on the table...without the pancake. We had to ask about our food twice. You could tell the waitress didn't like us asking about our food the 2nd time. After all, she told us it was "coming right up" 20 minutes earlier. She finally told us the manager was looking into it. 5 minutes later, a lady, who we think was the manager brought our food...without the pancakes. No apology for the wait for the food or more wait for the pancake. The food was ok...and quantities were fine. But nothing that would make me come back over the slow service. This may seem petty...but the utensils are so thin...you can barely use them! They are worse than very cheap sets you could buy at Dollar General. All the staff look like they are moving in slow motion. Like they dreaded being there. A LOT of other tables waited a long time for their orders. Bottom line....this location doesn't match up to the Canal Rd location...no where close. It's certainly no where close to when it was Hazel's. I can see old customers of Hazel's and Ducks coming there for awhile....until they realize very soon, this location isn't the same quality on many levels. My advice to customers...choose wisely somewhere else. My advice to THE OWNER - deep dive on this and get it fixed. Busy...
Read moreDuck in for some delicious diner cookin’! Located in Gulf shores Alabama ( and other locations) (used to be Hazels) Service is friendly professional and fast. Handicap accessible with handicap parking. Booths and tables for indoor dining. Great menu. We had the shrimp and grits cakes with creole sauce. Tasty but very salty. The bacon cheese omelette was cooked perfectly and served with your choice of side. I also added fresh tomatoes and fresh avocado on the side and my hashbrowns were cooked to order. We also indulged in the biscuits with pecans and fresh berries, and I have to say it was outstanding! More than a biscuit and more than a beignet this heavenly dish deserves a repeat, which we will definitely have again. Very clean, ample parking good food great service and the prices are competitive for the portions that you get. Open for breakfast lunch and dinner every day unless Alabama state is playing a game at which point they will close early. Something on the menu for people of all ages and I highly recommend if you’re in town,...
