The Honey Baked Ham Company — Restaurant in Gurnee

I stopped in for the first time last night and even before I left I knew I wanted to leave a positive review. I was really impressed with the service. As I walked in and reached the counter I was immediately greeted. I let the young lady behind the counter know it was my first time stopping in so I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. She showed me the sandwich menu (which included pictures), informed me that they were unfortunately out of soup, told me what other sides were available, said they had salads as well if I didn't want a sandwich, AND told me what the special was. You don't usually find service like that anymore. It's usually a blank stare and a not so welcoming environment. This is the second time i have purchased a ham in the last two months. One for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas. I even brought my sister in to buy a ham. I have been buying Honey Baked Hams for 20 years from your establishment . Different locations but still the same delicious quality. The employees are very nice and helpful. This is the second time that a employee asked if i needed assistance. I would like to say that this one kind act is so greatly appreciated. Since i have a back injury it was nice to have the young lady carry both our hams to my car. I had my sister wait until i picked her up in front of the store. We are both seniors. The food is delicious, there's no doubt. But the service I experienced was cold, and almost toxic. I arrived about 25 minutes before closing, and you would think the women behind the counter were about to leave for their own weddings. No friendly welcome. No hello. Curt responses. No up-sales. It was really uncomfortable. To think if they paid their counter people six or seven bucks more an hour, they could attract salespeople who could sell literally hundreds if not thousands more per day. Sad.
