Ok I’ve been to tacos el Norte for many many years this was my second time coming to this location and the reason we came back is for the menudo(tripe soup) I was craving it and last time it was delicious I ordered a large so I can have left overs and my fiancé had a tampiquena which I recommended because it’s a personal favorite I ordered a chorizo taco to come out first and it did anyway when we recieved our food the waitress walked away my fiancé didn’t receive silverware I tried getting 3 different servers attention was ignored by all like I understand it was a little busy but it’s not ok my fiancé got up and asked for some they said they didn’t have any rolled but they gave him a knife and fork perfect all we needed we then realize we didn’t get any salsas and the enchilada was dry I didn’t see sauce it honestly looked steamed I took a few bites of my menudo and it tasted bad like very watered down no flavor which I know is not right since i had it before so I asked my fiancé to try it and he agreed I was upset and honestly lost my appetite I then saw a young man bussing a table by us so I asked for a manager since after dropping our food off the waitress never came back the boy looked confused when I asked for a manager I said someone in charge or a waitress anything our server came by after and was like what’s the problem I then told her the issues and she was like so u didn’t like it I said no and sorry but I don’t want anything else I lost my appetite then she was like ok took it and came back with our bill and what upset was I didn’t speak to a manager there was not even an I’m sorry and acted like she did us a favor by taking it off our bill I literally barely had 2-3 bites and just was very...
Read more11-09-16 So I was just at tacos el Norte though the waitress was fairly nice, she wasn't on top of keeping the tables drinks filled and the food she presented to the table was not by any standard acceptable. I ordered enchiladas, which I'm aware this restaurant isn't an authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant , but I atleast expected a mimic in good taste from a food chain business that not only has been around for a while but claims to be authentic. The chicken in these enchiladas I kid you not ...had to be canned chicken , it tasted something like the variety of tuna, perhaps it was old , or the chicken was bad, it smelled just as horrible as it tasted. Flavor....someone must of forgot to season anything ....I mean talk about missing the mark , Taco Bell has more flavor. I even payed extra for the avocado slices which I didn't get to enjoy because they were spread over the nasty chicken enchiladas , And I had lost my appetite after the first bite . Still I payed full price , and tipped the waitress....because I was a wItress once so I know what it's like working for a tip and I also helped open a restaurant business so I also know the customer comes first and i would never have served such a catastrophe of a dish to my guest . When I asked her how the chicken was made, she had no response and she said she'd ask but upon return with the check said nothing .....guess it was worse than I thought. Someone call whom ever it concerns to do a random kitchen inspection I'd be willing to bet food isn't dated or being...
Read moreTacos El Norte Gurnee is okay for Dine in, but the food is bland. However, it fails at carry out and delivery (including ordering through DoorDash). Twice I've ordered a Tostada Dinner, the Dinner is $2 more than just a tostada because it is suppposed to include a side of Rice and Beans (see image), both times it did not include the sides (they should reimburse me $4). Then I tried to order just the tostada by itself, with a taco, a side of rice and beans, which is more expensive than the Tostada Dinner, but I thought maybe this time the order could be completed correctly. No such luck, because I also ordered a side of guacamole and chips. They failed to include the guacamole. When I called I was told by the server that answered the phone that she was sure she put it in the bag, then she became argumentative, and requested that I drive back to the restaurant to retrieve it. I told her I would not leave the rest of my food to get cold while I drive back and she said "well what do you want me to do about it." I asked for a refund and she finally agreed, but on the refund email, she noted the reason for the refund was: "Reason: Customer removed item." I guess just to add insult to injury. I think the servers should stop just hanging out with one another gossiping (and/or eating together) and maybe pay attention to what is going out to...
