Fire Pit BBQ — Restaurant in Hackensack

I wouldn't eat food from here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone, unless you like blend tasteless food. To call themselves a Portuguese restaurant is a disgrace snd embarrassment!!! The food tasted like nothing!!! There's no salt, garlic or piri piri which is the basis on Portuguese bbq chicken. The pork ribs were horrible and tasted gamey. We were unable to salvage it, since condiments don't go through cooked pork meat. The chicken and pork ribs should've been marinated, at least overnight! The fries they sent as one of the side dishes were old. I placed the order around 2pm, the fries, I could tell, had been originally fried at lunch time and sat around, so they dipped in old over burned oil for a couple of minutes and added to the order. They were hard and tasted burned! I come from a portuguese family, I go to Portugal to visit constantly. I love telling people about how rich and delicious portuguese cuisine is, even though their best food are the simple dishes of chicken, pork and fish!!! The difference is that in Portugal, they marinade the food, they are not scared to use the most simple condiments, such as garlic, onions, bay leaves and good old olive oil. I'm extremely disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!! I'm not going to rate the service and atmosphere because I ordered delivery thru Uber Eats. But the food I got was not good at all and over priced!!! I'll take the time and drive to Newark next time I decide to order...

The food is really good over here. The beef ribs are delicious. The chicken is good too. I had to steak sandwich with sauteed onions incredible. I have to say the parking is horrible. My vise park on the side street don't park in the lot you'll never get out you get stuck. You have tables inside to eat. It looks okay inside to eat. I always get the food to go. I know when you place a order on the phone sometimes they'll mix up the lines and put you on hold for a while. Best thing I do just go there and get your food. Just my opinion they could clean it up a little better inside the dining area so looks more presentable. But the food's really awesomeness. We don't have to go to Newark no more and get the beef ribs and chicken LOL. But if you want a awesome place in Newark Pulaski's awesome beef ribs and chicken. It's nice inside to have a lot of tables walking is little tight and crazy. But the best thing I like. The owner he barbecues the Chicken & Ribs on his big skillet right in...

The price for the portions are ridiculous. The 22 oz steak was cooked to perfection, I asked for medium rare and medium rare I received. I was surprised as the steak was very thick but it managed to be well cooked. The food great all around and the smoke flavors are definitely present as it’s cooked over wood charcoal. The side of rice and beans were big enough for well over two people. The #3 combo which was the pork spare ribs and beef short ribs was amazing. Nice and juicy in the middle alongside the crispy bits on the outside with the wood smoked flavors. The combo came with the same choice of sides, rice and beans or substitute fries, but we declined as it was such large portions and didn’t feel the need to waste food. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning again. One downside is that the parking is quite hectic and small, but well worth it in order...
