The only reason I know this place exists, is because is through local Youtube food reviewer. I normally don't eat late, seeing as PHUHROO's hours are 5:00-3:00AM, but last night I definitely was craving some soup on a cold day.
Put in my order, the guy said it would be ready in 15...came in 12 and the food was hot and ready for pickup! Really awesome and fresh. Didn't stay too long inside their establishment, but it looked clean and orderly.
I ordered 2 items: first, I got the Spicy Pho with Brisket ($17). First, I comment the establishment on how they pack the pho --- everything looks beautiful, and I only have to assemble it once home in my big bowl. They also include 2 packets: 1 hoisin, and 1 sriracha. The pho was absolutely delicious! To be honest, I typically choose ramen over pho because pho tends to be light --- but their spicy broth was PACKED WITH FLAVOR! I thought I would split up the portions because it was quite substantial, but ended up finishing it! I think you would do the same.
Second item I got is something not really advertised: Popcorn Broccoli ($7). I only know about it because of the King (iykyk), and these little fried morsels were absolutely delicious, served alongside a nice spicy, vinegary sauce that cut through all the oils. Another winner!
So why 4 stars and not 5? Price transparency. If you look at the menu at my photos, the Pho should have been 16 dollars. (Pho -11- + Spicy -1- + Brisket -4- =16) I just ask that if they're prices are slightly higher (Pho = 11.50, Brisket 4.50), they better update the public menu so customers are not surprised. I think the change was rather recent, and they just haven't gone around to do it. This is a reminder it needs to be done.
But overall? Definitely recommend! 10/10 overall, that missing point is over the price transparency. Once they are, 5's...
Read moreCouldn’t wait to check this place out as I was looking for a new spot to go to for lunch everyday. My initial impression was great walking in, until I realized the guy at the register took my order incorrectly. I asked him specifically how big the pho was in the bahn mi combo meal, he shows me the size then I tell him that sounds good to me so Ill do that. He asks me if I want the pho with or without meat, then goes to the kitchen and comes back while I tell my husband that Ill just do the pho without meat since my bahn mi would come with meat. When the guy comes back I say without meat. So he then proceeds to take my husbands’ order. We’re seated and he then brings me a huge bowl of plain pho. I tell him that’s not what I ordered and instead of trying to fix the issue, he just says yes that’s what you ordered as he walks away. I try to explain that I wanted a bahn mi combo. He completely dismisses what Im saying and says this is what you ordered and leaves me to my bowl. So I just find myself eating a bowl of plain (very mediocre for the price btw) pho for dinner. Worse than the food was the customer service!! He has the audacity at the end to come to me and day « sorry about the bahn mi, maybe next time ». Next time??? I’m NEVER stepping foot here again. after I tell him I had a terrible experience he just walks away and says « oh ok ». What??? Hope the 3 dollars you saved on correcting your order was worth all the money you lost from me never coming back here.
TL; DR: Mediocre pho, terrible...
Read moreBeen really excited to give this spot a try for a very long time. Based on reviews I had high hopes for this restaurant. To start off with, I was a little disappointed in the fact that they no longer serve their pan-fried jeon. I've heard nothing but good things about this item. However, there were no indication that the item was discontinued as it's still on their official menu. The main star was supposed to be the Pho. This was a huge disappointment! The broth seemed to have been watered down and under seasoned. It was missing richness. It didn't have a beefy taste but more like boiled water with a hint of pho spices and salt. The restaurant did not have any table condiments (salt, pepper, fish sauce, sriracha, hoisin) in order for customers to help enhance the flavour of their broth. As someone who has a high tolerance for salty foods, the bulgogi was overly sweet and salty. If anyone is looking to order this item, just make sure to evenly distribute the bulgogi with the fries. The dumplings tastes like your typical frozen mandu you can get at H Mart. What carried this review up to 3 stars was the employee. It was quite a busy night but I appreciate him being so polite. Hopefully it was just a bad night for them but I'm hoping for a better...
