WHERE DO I START? I'll start at the beginning. I was referred to this place by my boss. It's a shame in America in 2017 I have too ask if this is a comfortable place for my kind and my boss said this bar is great and diverse. So after a day of errands with my uncle I offered too treat him too food and drinks. I say let me try this place my boss referred me too. On arrival my uncle tells me too go in and he will be in shortly after I insist we go in together. Reluctantly I walk in alone too many stares. So the bartender MIMI comes from behind the bar and says I need too see some I.d. I give it too her and with no greeting asks "what am I drinking"? I ask can I grab a seat first. So I sit and I ask for a Heineken. While drinking another patron ask did she just i.d you I said yeah I'm use too it. My uncle text me to get a food menu I oblige. My uncle walks in goes straight too back and starts playing basketball. Finally my uncle comes too the bar and tries too order food. She asks him for his i.d. Again the patron next too us is flabbergasted he asks out loud y'all are really asking for his i.d. With me I understand I'm 26 however my uncle is almost 50. So my uncle gives him his i.d. My uncle is a war vet and was on classified missions so his i.d. has a military clearance on it. So they take his i.d. and pass it around without his permission and starts too take notes off it. They pass it around and my uncle takes his i.d back asking why are y'all playing with my identification. By this time the patron next too us is fuming saying they are asking him for identification too order food. So too try too ease the tension I tell Mimi my boss invited me here and then she ask if it were some white guy I should've said yes but I told her the truth. She then goes too the owner KENNY (guy with the big beard and tattoos who looks like a criminal biker) and he clearly knows who we are speaking of but tells her too do what she has too do. By this time I'm through I tell my uncle let's leave cause it's clear they are not only worried about age. So I tell the owner and Mimi his goon/girlfriend/employee I rather you deny us at the door. My biggest issue is they embarrassed us at the bar. They could've screened us at the door like most real establishments. Even though I paid for a drink and proved my age Mimi was very rude, standoffish too me and felt she was ignoring me on purpose at times even though I came too spend money there. The fact that the patron next too us didn't get i.d and they still pressed the issue though he saying they didn't I.d him. Then when I go outside my uncle tells me he knew what type of place this was that's why he didn't wanna go in and he has experienced these things I was hurt. Being that my uncle is a war vet and been all over the world as I eat out almost everyday as well I know this is not how inclusive and inviting establishments conduct themselves. I don't mind being turned down at the door but for them too do all that at the bar was really embarrassing. If you read this review without looking at my pic I know you'll know what race I am. What race the bar owner is and what race the patron next to us was and in 2017 in the north east coast and with a war veteran it's a total smack...
Read moreI was introduced to this dive bar about a year ago by a well-known person in the community that’s in law enforcement. As a consistent customer of this establishment that has personally gotten to know most of the staff and the owner, I can say this place deserves nothing short of 5 stars! I think having a business in the community comes with some additional responsibilities than making sure your food is served right and drinks are good. This establishment has supported many other businesses in the community, as well as held fundraisers, provide food for fundraisers, given monetary support for cancer victims, and Parkinson’s disease, fed the homeless, and families suffering from tragic accidents such as fires, supporting children going back to school and the local police and fire department! All without wanting any recognition for it! He can be quoted saying “it’s not about me, it's about the people”. Thank you Straphangers for making my first year frequenting your business a great one. Congratulations on your recent 10-year anniversary of being a part of this community and I am confident your next 10 years will be...
Read moreMe and my guest were treated like we ain’t belong, they seem to cater to the locals. We ordered some wings that were unseasoned with sauce just poured over it. Mixed drinks was just juice I asked for less juice and still got a juiced up drink. We then ordered shots and the liquor is def cut and watered down. I’m a cognac drinker and that stuff they served was def not it. My guest ordered wine and they served it in plastic cups. The bartender Al who also was also “security” stated due to covid restrictions they are not servicing glass, but another patron was clearly drinking out of a wine glass and they were serving shots in shot glasses. 🤔🤔🤔 He then tells us that the guy drinking out of the wine glass brought his own glass in only for him to leave and they take the glass and wash it and put it behind the counter. They only have tap water no bottled water at all. The locals were cool and friendly. Place was clean and nicely located but unfortunately they need to Improve on the quality of product they serve and the service but I won’t be...
