We had a baby shower here in March and while we had a lovely time seeing family and friends, the venue left much to be desired. ---First, what we really liked about Jane's Tea House: Mostly all inclusive for a party----$43 + 20% tip is over $50 per guest, but other than your decor/favors, the venue has a menu that covers all the bases. Price was high, but daughter wanted it there and we weren't looking at other places. Food was good---sandwiches were tasty and desserts was beautiful and delicious. Lots of tea selections and the presentation on a tiered plate looked wonderful. Vinny was my contact person and he was responsive and helpful. Trinity, our server, kept things moving along and was super friendly. ---This is where Jane's Tea House needs improvement: The bathroom was so dirty when we got there.....family members were scrambling to clean it before guests arrived. We had to ask them to empty the overflowing garbage can (so gross). The baseboards in the bathroom have yellow dingy 'spray' all over them even by the door. The dust on the baseboards is about 6 months worth and the amount of handprints/grime on the door is clearly never addressed. They use a pink dollar store tablecloth that looks very 'child's birthday party'. I have never seen this at a catered function. They will tell you very clearly that only command hooks are allowed when you decorate, but then there are command hooks in random spots all over the wall that they couldn't remove. The Photo Booth, in theory is an excellent idea and if this had worked properly would have been incredible. Only a few of our crew got photos.....it was constantly 're-buffering.' Note that if you have a party here for less than a full house, you are sharing the non-working Photo Booth and the non-cleaned bathroom with all the restaurant guests, so there will be overlap. Finally, note that if you get the Mimosa Bar for an additional $5 per person, that does NOT include a single mimosa. Just fruit juice. You will need to bring champagne. This was not in my contract anywhere----perhaps this is my fault as I did not know Haddon Heights is a dry town (I'm not a drinker) and I assumed 'Mimosa Bar' meant they were taking care of whatever ingredients were needed. Would recommend if they hired a cleaning service/made it easier for people to hang decor (maybe a hanging rod for baby clothes)/invested in a more updated Photo Booth camera. Because the food is very good and the staff is great. I just think management needs to invest a little in making this the Par-Tea Destination in...
Read moreI thought I'd give Janes Tea House another chance since my last visit over a year ago was so disappointing. Well, so sorry I spent $80 for another disappointing tea. The service was terrible. Our waitress was MIA. We saw her when we came in and she dropped off our tea pots and we had no sugar or cream, no napkins. I got up and got my own from a table. We saw her again when our food came then never saw her again. Food actually was worse this time. It starts out with a salad that was good but it was all down hill from there. The one sandwich was awful, the crustini had fruit in a jell, gross, the tiny croissant with a half piece of ham or turkey who knows. And the only thing that was edible, a quiche! The cinnamon scone was small but okay and the other scone, who knows I left it there. The desserts were not special. A mouthful of bought vanilla cake in a tiny plastic cup with strawberry jell and whip cream was awful. Another pink pudding with whip cream in a tiny plastic cup and a Sams club half inch sweet square thing. For the price, Janes Tea house is charging $70 for two people, for .50 cents worth of food. Nothing fancy or interesting. I will never go back again. I read some of the favorable reviews and all I can say is you poor people have no idea what a elegant, well represented delicious afternoon tastes like. Go to The New Leaf tearoom, thats a true afternoon tea experience with real home made desserts, out of this world delicious home made scone twice the size of Janes tea house. Not only that but a fresh fruit cup, five delicious sandwiches and a delicious quiche. All for less money in a beautiful decorated victorian house with an amazing gift shop too! Please dont waste your time and money at...
Read moreWe were there for a birthday. Let me first start by saying that the food is the shining star here. My cheddar herb biscuit was amazing, as was the orange parfait and chocolate chip cookie. Sandwiches were good. I really loved the varied, delicate teacup sets and their designs. Décor is cute. The place was almost full, so the staff was hustling. Now I realize that this is not high tea at the Ritz Carlton. Bathroom had water stains on the wall with the trash overflowing with paper towels. This was soon after they opened, so it was not emptied from the day before. Servers were all quite young. Server brought hot house tea while we awaited the rest of our party but no cream or sugar. Ten minutes later, we approached another server who said she would tell her. When cream and sugar finally arrived, it was in a caddy of all artificial sweeteners and 2 sugars. I requested more sugar for our party of 8. She delivered another caddy of Sweet-n-low, Splenda, and now 3 sugars. I then ask if she could just bring us 10 sugars. When she finally delivered them, she said to me, “I hope this is finally going to be enough sugar for you now.” (As if I am going to be using them all myself lol). We had to remind her for more water, tea, etc. Perhaps a quick minute meeting with the staff on serving etiquette would really benefit the owner and this establishment. Again, I realize this is not the Ritz Carlton. When my book club recently planned a trip...
