We had a wonderful time here, Jhony waited on this and was a joy to talk to you very kind. This is the best Peruvian food we have ever outside of Peru!
On this visit we had the ceviche, causa, aji de gallina, parihuela, and the crema volteada for desert. And of course we had to have the classic Peruvian soda to round out our meal, the Inca Kola (tastes close to bubblegum for the uninitiated.)
For those new to Peruvian food it is unique, combining Asian influences with coastal, rainforest, and high elevation Andean ingredients. Some negative comments seem to steam from expecting Mexican flavors, but while Peruvian has some overlap, it is very different. I would go with an open palete if it is your first time, as Peruvian food has amazing fusion flavors authentic to it's country and heritage.
Jhony's is a great representation of some classic dishes you will find in Peru, and are presented in a lovely manner.
We hope to return soon to try some...
Read moreThis complaint has nothing to do with the food. On June 14th, I went to this restaurant to eat with my family. We were 4 people in the table. I was with my parents and my fiancé. My parents and I are Hispanic and my fiancé is Caucasian. When we asked for the check, I realized that the final amount was a bit higher and I asked for the detailed bill. It was my surprised when I saw that 18% gratuity was added to the bill. I spoke with the owner of the restaurant and I asked her why they added 18% when we were a party of 4, their menu said gratuity would be added for parties of 6 or more. The lady said that every Hispanic gets charged an automatic gratuity because we usually do not tip. I was very surprised by that and she said that Caucasians do not get charged because they know how to tip. If you are Hispanic, please review your check...
Read moreMy husband and I went to try their Ceviche today after a day of hiking. We walked in around 4:30pm. The food was decent but the service was awful. It took over ten minutes to be waited on even thought we were the only two people in the restaurant. The young woman that waited on us rolled her eyes at every question, never asked if we needed anything else, I had to ask for the check and she brought it to the table, laid it down and said here. We had been to Serva across the street two days before and they had excellent food and service. We would highly recommend Serva as the restaurant of choice for Peruvian...
