First Impression--Open the door to Dora's and it smells great!
Yum Yum
I stopped by for a quick bite with my wife slightly after lunch time. We wanted to get a couple of slices of pizza, and a chicken parm sub to share, but Dora's only does pizza by the slice at lunch time. That was a bummer.
Instead we shared a 12" chicken parm sub and their three mini calzone special. On the plus side, the mini calzones were bigger than we expected.
On the minus side, they were not very full of stuff. For me, a calzone, let's take a traditional cheese calzone, should have cheese oozing out of it as you bite into it. At Dora's, it was basically dough filled with a pocket of air. I could barely taste the cheese...in fact, if i didn't see the thin spread of cheese on the inside I would have sworn they left it out.
On the plus side again--the calzones' dough was extremely tasty.
By the way--they make them fresh once ordered. They were not laying around and reheated. I believe almost everything is made fresh, so it takes time to get your food. This is home made food cooked to order.
Of the three calzones, the only one that had any real flavor was the Bacon and Cheese because of the strong bacon flavor. But again, not much substance inside.
The final positive--the calzones came with a very tasty dish of red sauce on the side for dipping, which really wasn't needed, and a very generous salad packed with goodies...not your typical bland iceberg lettuce side.
Final thought--Dora's should make the calzones slightly smaller, add more filling, and charge a drop more. I would have gladly paid a buck or two more, to get three smaller jam packed calzones than the ones they serve now.
Moving along to the Chicken Parm Sub--it was very good. Not the best I ever ate, but quite good. A lot of tasty chicken, cheese and sauce. The bread was good, but not as good as the bread I grew up with in New York City.
Would I buy the chicken parm sub again? That is the real test. Yes, I would, and so would my wife.
Final Thoughts--I liked Dora's and will return. I live in the area and go out to eat weekly for lunch, so I will be back soon I think. I would like to try their pizza and some of their other subs. The service was nice. The atmosphere quaint. Although they do not serve alcohol you can bring your own wine or beer if you want. And again, I loved the aromatic smell when walking in the door. That alone makes me...
Read moreLiving in this area for 30 years I have to say this is the best pizza I've had in the central Florida area and its refreshing that it's not a chain pizza place. My wife from NY loved it as well. Just having the cheese pizza was left us satisfied and the sweet tomato sauce and seasoning with the cheese was perfect. The price for the large 3 topping was 9.95 which if you went to the Papa John's next to my house it starts at $14 and was for one topping. The lady at the counter was so kind and courteous which is a rare thing these days. The place isn't huge but you have an option to come in and sit down to dine in and it was clean and cozy. The told us about a reward system that happens after so many orders which is a extra plus to dining here. Being disabled and her seeing that she offered me a seat at a table while we waiting for the order to be made and cooked. They also have more pizza toppings then any other pizza place I've been to in the 30+ years of living here in central FL. It nice having more choices and for a friday night it was busy but we were taken care of quickly. I couldn't ask for a better place and cant wait to try out all the other things on their menu. I almost dont want to leave such a positive review because this is a jem and once word gets out I know this place will be busy the majority of the time but they deserve...

I moved to this little town in March 2022, As a self named "pizza critic level expert ", I have try every single pizza place in this area, and believe me, I don't know why it took me almost 3 years to enter this place (I work just 200 ft away from here) but the🍕here is at another level! way UP level!
The first thing I've noticed: the warm welcome from its owner, Dominique, which is native from Paris🇫🇷 so lovely and approachable, after a little chitchat with her, she mentioned that ALL the ingredients are fresh and made daily: dough, tomato sauce, all toppings, everything is hand made every day, and you can taste it, the flavors and textures are natural, there is nothing artificial here, just a PLAIN GOOD, FLAVORFUL and NATURAL🍕 and that's what really matters. Believe, ANY other pizza in this town is not even close to the wonderful taste they prepair here.
Funny fact aside, all the place is decorated with french🇫🇷 decorations and written in French🇫🇷! So this the only Pizza restaurant I've visited in my life that doesn't look Italian!🤌plus is quiet, clean and cool.
Probably I will quit getting my🍕from all the other places and make this lovely place THE ONLY place for a VERY GOOD🍕!!!
Standing ovation to Dominique and her team here at...
