After living many years in Haines City I decided to give this place a try I see you always see a while driving on US 27 the atmosphere is phenomenal truly retro great atmosphere we got seated so it was her first time we had to go through the menu or server at the beginning was attentive and gave us time to read the menu afterwards she was all business we saw other people coming after we had a placed our order and within 5 to maybe 8 minutes they already had their food while we were still waiting for ours our server randomly showed up. the black coffee was horrible my other partner ordered sweet tea which was 99% water no flavor, once our food finally arrived the hash browns were not burned they were cremated the sausage had the consistency of a Slim Jim the eggs were undercooked as they could have stayed on the grill a bit more also the same with the pancakes the home fries was just burned slightly but still burned the poached eggs were relatively good I think the only saving grace in the entire breakfast was the French toast so we paid close to $35 to have decent French toast and everything else was bad, our server asked us just at the beginning of serving the food how the food was which at that point we had no idea so we said it was good after that when we asked to pay she just gave us the bill took our card gave it back we signed it and poof definitely will not go back for the amount of money I'll just go to Cracker Barrel I'm not one to talk bad about a place but if the place deserves it or I had a bad experience I will talk about it some people have good experience. I guess today was just a bad experience day those are...
Read moreDefinitely not what I was expecting. This is a super critical review because we had to wait 20 minutes to get seated (not bad) but then 39 minutes to receive breakfast. Because of the lengthy delay in receiving our food I had time to inspect everything on the table. The plastic disposable salt and pepper shakers have never been wiped and had coffee splatter along with other stickiness so we wiped both down. We opened the Tabasco bottle and a leaned out the dried up residue from the top and the inside of the cap. Then we had a coffee refill and there was something floating in the coffee. When I pulled it out I can only imagine it was from the inside of the metal coffee pot that has probably never been cleaned. I wanted to leave but I was committed to seeing this through and see if the food was what everyone claimed it was even though I was frightened to eat from this place at this point. We had ordered poached eggs with grits and bacon with a “homemade” biscuit, and a side single pancake to taste. My husband ordered two poached eggs, side of hash, ham steak, potatoes and rye toast. My 2 poached eggs had one hard and one medium. The grits were very good. The biscuit was good. My husband had two soft poached eggs and white toasty. The hash was good. The ham steak was not great. The pancake was rubbery and stuck to the plate. This restaurant clearly gets a lot of business and people so I strongly encounter to clean everything on the table and the coffee pots. Otho g should ever be floating in a cup and customers shouldn’t e cleaning the condiments! Service was ok. I won’t...
Read moreWe've been coming here for a few years now, always for breakfast, and have found it to be a really friendly place that serves up some of the best country cooking around. They probably have some healthy-ish items on the menu if you look hard enough, but we come for the good stuff. Their sausage gravy is some of my favorite in the area, with great flavor but not overly peppery (by the way, pepper and salt are on the table for those who need things amped up in that way). Biscuits are good, bacon crispy (if desired, which we do) and tasty, eggs typically well prepared to order (such as scrambled with cheese, just sayin'). And speaking of that gravy, I like to get it on the side so as to keep my chicken fried steak (or chicken) nice and crispy, but that's just me. But anyway, both the steak and chicken are fine comfort food choices here. Of course you may want to top all that off with some fresh brewed iced tea, with sweet or unsweet both on offer. One interesting breakfast item is the City Mush, which one of our usual party really favors and will order almost every time. Quite a combo of eggs and gravy and grits and crispy bacon bits and cheese and I'm probably forgetting something! Suffice to say, you want to be hungry, or prepared to take home leftovers, and that's true with just about anything we've ever had here. Friendly service, comfort food to the max, and seems like a pretty clean and well-run operation on top of all that. Plenty of parking in back if the front lot is full, which it...
