Relaxing Day Trip to Half Moon Bay

Wow. Visiting from Nebraska and decided to come in for coffee and breakfast. Great cup of coffee. Rich and aromatic. Not too acidic or harsh. Now for the breakfast….. smoked salmon avocado toast. I normally make avocado toast at home. Avocado spread on toast, maybe a poached egg, bacon. This? It Had a cream cheese spread with avocado. This gave it such a creamy luxurious texture. Then it had some amazing smoked salmon and these little crispy (fried!?!?) capers on it. And if that wasn’t great enough, there were fresh cucumbers and red onion that had been tossed in lime juice and oil!! At least that’s what I believe it was. Either way it was the perfect amount of acidity to cut through the creamy richness of the avocado and cream cheese. All served on top of a chewy toasted sour dough bread. Oh and let us not forget the charred Lemon slice on top. And this all created, in my humble opinion, the best breakfast I have had in California. I will be taking this combo of flavors and textures back to Nebraska and trying my darnedest to recreate it at home. I know it won’t be the same. So I suppose I’ll have to visit again. :-)

This place is a solid breakfast and lunch place for locals and tourists alike. Starting with breakfast, they have a wide selection of coffee and tea drinks. The breakfast sandwiches (design however you please), breakfast rice (amazing to go option and even better as hangover food), and the pastry/mini pie collection all provide ample breakfast options. The lunch selection is mostly sandwich based. The grilled chicken pesto sandwich (pictured) is AMAZEBALLS in the best of ways! Who would have thought a huge grilled red pepper, mustard, and pesto would have made such a good flavor combo, right? This is not a fancy brunch spot, but it is a great place for friends to meet for breakfast or lunch.

The food is great. It's popular. You can sit outside. Casual place. Prices kinda high ..I wasn't happy that the menu was inaccurate. I ordered the bacon mushroom cheese omelette. It said it comes with avocado. She said well it doesn't I asked if I could have it as one of the side dishes instead of bread or hash browns since I'm on keto ..she said no. . that's just wrong. False advertising too. Rip off actually ,if it's already in menu it should be available or price should be reduced or another item substituted ...The customer service isn't great. You have to order at the register. .I like the pictures on wall. And the booths. But it's dull in ways. I think it's a great place otherwise ..many food items. Big portions. Well made food. I enjoy it. Self serve coffee. A few selections of coffee to choose from which is good. Free refills if you order the mug option. I like the big pans of homemade looking cakes kinda unusual although I haven't ordered any yet. There are plastic wrapped pumpkin breads etc near register that you could pay for quickly and take out . Pancakes great .hash browns great. Eggs Benedict etc. All great. Basic ingredients. Standard. But big omelettes with lots of filling. I don't think they use olive oil. I had the pumpkin pancakes which were good. Basic syrup choices. Maybe not enough ...wasn't crazy about the music. Outdoor seating is just super casual in front near road. I like that it's casual actually. One bathroom in the back. I'm glad it opens very early. That's great. I think I will go more often. They don't have a bargain breakfast option like Denny's ..two eggs two bacons etc for cheap. I think they should have a good deal like that. It's kinda pricey if you get the combo breakfast with pancakes. $16.. I guess food has gone up everywhere . But there should be a cheaper option like another local restaurant. Sam's . I have mixed feelings about this place. I think it's great in ways and also not great. Customer service not so great. I would go again though. Nice booths with nice picture on wall. Nice desserts. They do a great job with breakfasts. Popular place. Opens so early...

I don't leave reviews usually, but I was pretty disappointed. I live on the coast and have gone to the coffee company for years. But had a bad experience a year or two ago and hadn't gone since then. My son was going there to eat so I had him pick me up A chicken fried steak breakfast last weekend and it was atrocious. I'm allergic to eggs so I subbed it for avocado which I was charged for. No problem, that usually happens. The avocado I was given was disgusting and rotten, I even tried cutting the edges off but the middle was also rotten. I'm a chef and this is unacceptable for any cook to send out of their kitchen. He was going to drive it to me which would take a while so he asked for the hash browns to be crispy. The hash browns were extremely undercooked and white. They put the gravy on the side which was nice so the steak didn't get soggy but the steak was so overcooked I could barely cut it with a knife. My meal cost $20+ Dollars and was almost inedible. I don't know what happened to them or the quality of their food but no way I would go back and definitely would not recommend it to anyone. I can't figure out how to upload the picture which is annoying because I would like for people to see what I saw when I opened my food, absolutely...

I hope the manager of this place sees this because I called and want to complaint. Nothing against this place, I liked this place. It was not right. I’m a regular customer at this cafe. I’ve purchased small coffees and bagels. I’ve used their restroom before with no issues. Yesterday I was upset, disappointed and in shock. I had an urgent emergency to use the restroom, I asked a guy in the back who was uploading things, if I can. He said okay. It had a sign for cleaning. I went in it was open, so I thought it was okay. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant 🤰. Someone kept knocking on the door very strong and I replied but that person kept knocking. I got out, this short entitled lady chubby set came towards me aggressively yelling that I can’t use the restroom. I wasn’t sure if she was a janitor or employee from the back kitchen. I apologized and explained my situation that I’m pregnant and it was emergency. I asked someone earlier who was there it was fine. She said he doesn’t work here. Kept on verbally assaulting me and yelling at me after I apologized kindly. It was not right to do that to anyone. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. This the 1st time this happened to me. It’s not right. I wonder if this falls under the The...
