UPDATED REVIEW: So excited to report that our favorite craft gelato maker now has a new larger gorgeous corner space in Half Moon Bay. Right over the little bridge and on the right side, next to the children's boutique. They have several new flavors of sorbet and gelato available and they are all divine and made from scratch. They also make amazing fresh bubble waffles on demand with homemade salted caramel sauce, Guittard chocolate sauce or any number of organic fruit toppings. They will keep adding more to their menu as they get to full capacity.
They are hiring and looking to expand their core staff.
Such an amazing spot and Chef Gulino is a true master of his art. There is love and deep wisdom in every bite. Exceptional, seasonal ingredients and I appreciate all the dairy free options as well as Guittard 74% gelato. They'll be adding hot chocolate and other surprises soon.
Just go. No seriously. Go now before...
Read moreThis gelato shop is the only one I've ever been to that doesn't offer any samples. I understand restricting samples if someone is abusing it but to offer peculiar flavors and not to allow someone to try a quarter of a teaspoon is abnormal. As we live in a wonderful capitalistic society, I spent my money elsewhere. Penny wise & pound foolish. Lost my business! Edit: I noticed the shop owner's objectively dishonest reply indicating something along the lines that I was told if it don't love the gelato that it would be swapped. We were never told that. I'll give him $5000 if he can produce video showing that any of his employees even spoke with me in his shop. Didn't happen. I saw the ridiculous policy and left. The owner's defensive and objectively dishonest response should tell you all you need to know. Glad I didn't spend...
Read moreI should have stuck with my initial thoughts to avoid. The server arrogantly declared no tastings (their sign says "No tastings! Thanks for understanding!" - without any reasons given - we're not in the midst of covid anymore). The textures were fine, but the flavors were weak and unimaginative. Just some basic standard American flavors (oreo, chocolate, etc., the most adventurous was just mascarpone). Since my wife was intent on having some gelato, we got some anyway. The chocolate was... just ok, and the oreo, which I had gotten as a "safe" choice, was faint and uninspiring. My $5.70 would have been much better spent on a premium pint from the supermarket (e.g. Jeni's or Van Leeuwen). I need to remember to not waste my money and calories on these kinds of...
