We went here for my husband's birthday because I saw they had a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. When we first walked in I immediately loved the decor, the restaurant felt very welcoming and casual but had so many interesting things to look at. The staff was very friendly and took time to chat with tables. The staff did wear masks most of the time but I could still tell they were always smiling while they were working.
We both ordered a traditional Nepali vegetarian combo meal because we felt like it was a great value for everything that comes with it. It came with Daal soup, a salad with a mango dressing, choice of brown/white rice, saag curry (which is made from spinach), mixed vegetable curry, papadum with a dipping sauce, and some rice pudding with coconut, almond and raisin toppings. This is a great way to try a little bit of many dishes! You can also choose the spiciness level that you like, which is great because I don't like spice but my husband does. My husband raved about the saag curry and said it was the star of the show. I'm hit or miss with cooked spinach, but also though the saag curry was very tasty. The start of the show for me was the rice pudding though lol. Mostly because I absolutely love rice pudding. But everything was delicious.
We had a great experience and I would highly recommend trying it out if you're...
Read moreThis place has an amazing taste. We ordered aloo paratha, raita, veg chowmein, Veg Thupka soup, Nepali tea, and Momos. Every dish had an amazing taste. Tea is worth tasting if you're a tea lover. It has an amazing aroma and it taste like masala tea.
One thing which bothered me a bit is was the waiting time, went I visited this place on a weekend lot of people were already here and they had only two staff members which means they couldn't attend everyone due to which there was a high waiting time for everything. Starting from taking order(10 minutes wait to take the order), serving order (30minutes waiting). We almost forgot this as we got very delicious food. But main thing was that when I asked one of the staff to refill the mouth freshner she did listen to me and went towards her table to take it then all of sudden some other staff told something to her then she started attending other tables. I kept on waiting for her she did see me waiting but she didn't bother to refill it. I almost waited for few minutes for her to come since she didn't come so I left. May be they have more staff, it is as just two people there. Still, I would...
Read moreScope of this review is just one dine-in visit on a Saturday. At a high level, our lunch visit was awesome.
Pros: The decor had a very nice Himalayan feel to it. There we strings of prayer flags and wall decor representing Nepal. Food was amazing. We ordered vegetarian (with mild spice level) - dal soup, naan, veg. kurma (comes with rice). Each item was well made. The naan is made of whole wheat with black sesame seeds and another spice (cumin / ajwain). That is the only bread item in their menu which is made of whole wheat. The dal was well cooked with spices. The kurma was very tasty too. Reminded us of home cooked food. They have an inside capacity of 49 with some seating available outside as well. For a Saturday lunch, it didn't feel crowded at all.
Cons: Service time. It took about 30 minutes for our order to arrive. At first, that seemed a bit too much because there were only about 2 other tables that were occupied when we came. But the quality of food really put that discomfort away.
We'll surely come again if we are in Half Moon Bay to try other items...
