Let me start by confessing to some snobbery: I consider myself a cheese steak connoisseur. I lamented the dearth of quality cheesesteaks with my fellow East Coast transplants for several years after I moved to SF. All the ones I had tied felt like a shadow of an authentic cheesesteak in comparison to a true Philly classic. DC, NYC, and Philly all know cheesesteaks but the West Coast hadn't figured it out until as of late.
The most commonly overlooked ingredient in an exceptional cheesesteak is neither the cheese or the steak but the bread. Jersey Joe's does the same as my (now second favorite cheesesteak place Phat Philly's in SF); they respect the bread. Combined with the ribeye which is sliced daily and gobs of gooey white American cheese, it makes for the perfect cheesesteak. I am so glad I grabbed one before leaving HMB, it's the best cheesesteak I've had since moving out here 11 years ago.
Thank you, Don, for creating this little haven for us East Coast transplants. Now, you just need to open a location in San Francisco!...
Β Β Β Read moreMy husband and I stopped here on our way to an AirBnB in San Gregorio, and we'll absolutely be back and recommend this place to friends.
I forgot to take a picture of my Rueben if that tells you anything. Although that sandwich was delicious, my favorite was the garlic fries. When I have a craving for garlic fries, THESE are the fries I'm looking for. Absolute perfection. The wait time was expected for how busy they were, they were pretty packed, but the quality cancels out the wait time for us.
Interior has great atmosphere with a smidge of cheeky humor. Staff were professional and courteous. Overall, this place is worth your time to check out.
Round 2- Mushroom Philly Cheesesteak and Garlic Fries (again). Fries were just as incredible as the first time, and the Cheesesteak was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese and onions, packed with steak...
Β Β Β Read moreThe meat used in the Sandwich was prettygood, but overall, Jersey Mike's is significantly better in my opinion. The following definitely didn't help with my rating of the overall Sandwich. The service wasn't very good. I think there is a language barrier and it didn't help that the person at the register as well as the Cook, wouldn't listen to what I was asking for. It resulted in a Sandwich that was supposed to have extra cheese and no peppers, having no cheese with peppers. They wouldn't refund my money, or give me a partial refund even though I was only able to eat about half the Sandwich due to the peppers. They give me terrible heartburn unfortunately. I wouldn't recommend this place. I gave 2 stars because my wife thought the Sandwich was OK, nothing special and based on that, would go to a number of other places in the area before...
