We went to Bolley's on a whim this morning. I have had their donuts before at work and I thought they were fantastic. We really went in there for a donut, well I had 2 and a small breakfast, 2 eggs and Texas toast. My wife had coffee and a honey glazed donut. She said the donut was really good, not too cakey or too dense. I had to agree with that assessment mine were the same. The Texas toast was soft and fluffy. The eggs were done perfectly. We will end up back there to try a hot dog, since that is what they are known for. My wife thought they should offer a hotdog in a donut bun. I would devour that and come back for more. They do close for the season, so if you are in Augusta before Dec. 1st try them out, you won't be disappointed. Small dining room, but if it's nice outside there is plenty of...

Bolley's happened to reopen on my birthday and we decided to give it a try, which we did not regret!

The staff were very friendly, handed us a menu right away and took the time to explain the different types of hotdogs that were available, even though there was a lot going on.

We went with the regular hotdogs and onion rings + sweet potato fries on the side. Everything was great, but in my opinion the onion ring batter was lacking some spice or seasoning to make it even better.

Unfortunately, all the donuts were already sold out for the day, so I will have to try that another time.

The dining area and restroom were very clean and there are a lot of parking spaces available.

Everything considered, Bolley's is definitely a place...

I cannot forget the first doughnut I bought there. The are homemade with real flour and such from scratch. They are fried in real lard, the old fashioned way. All the doughnuts in all the shops seem to be made from the same bag of commercial processed doughnut mix. Dunkin Doughnut has very small doughnuts and they all taste acidic. I have been fast running out of bakeries that make anything but this type of awful processed foul tasting pastries.

All of the food is good and at reasonable prices. I have bought many dozens of doughnuts since and every time I pass the front of the restaurant I stop for more doughnuts and something to eat.

If you see the sign, don't drive by. Stop and eat at "Bolley's Famous Franks", it...

Bolley’s Famous Franks in Hallowell, Maine is one of my favorite stops for classic comfort food. The hot dogs and fries are excellent, and you can’t go wrong with their housemade donuts, burgers, or onion rings. The food is always fresh, the portions are generous, and the staff keeps things friendly and fast. It’s the kind of casual local spot that makes Maine dining special. If you’re near 38 Water Street in Hallowell, ME, do yourself a favor and stop in—highly recommended! – Robert Thibodeau, Realtor®
