As someone born and raised in New Jersey, I take Italian cuisine—especially pizza—very seriously. The East Coast is known for its authentic, flavorful Italian dishes, and pizza is practically a way of life. So when I relocated to Texas, I came with very low expectations when it came to finding anything that could compare. That’s why I was thrilled when I stumbled upon a local gem—Luigi’s. The first time I tried it, I was honestly impressed. The pizza was flavorful, the crust was on point, and everything had that comforting, old-school Italian taste I’d been missing. Still, I held off on writing a review because I like to see consistency before I fully endorse a place. Unfortunately, I’m glad I waited. Somewhere along the way, Luigi’s hired a new cook—and the quality took a nosedive. I recently ordered a pizza and lasagna for a family dinner, and what we received was beyond disappointing. The pizza was badly burned, and the lasagna looked more like a bowl of cheese soup than a hearty, layered dish. I couldn’t understand why something in that condition would even be allowed to leave the kitchen. My family and I were hungry and ready to eat, only to open the boxes and feel completely let down. I called the restaurant to express my concerns and was told I needed to send proof, which I did. To their credit, they apologized and sent someone out with a replacement pizza. Sadly, the replacement wasn’t much better. While this one wasn’t charred, it was unevenly cooked—undercooked cheese in the center and a crust that was once again overdone. It’s such a letdown to watch a restaurant with potential decline like this. I genuinely wanted to love Luigi’s and support them long-term, but after multiple disappointments, my family and I have made the difficult decision not to return. If you’re in the area and looking for a solid, consistent New York-style pizza experience, I recommend giving New York Pizza & Pasta a try. It’s not quite the Jersey slice I grew up with, but it’s definitely the best and most reliable we’ve found in Texas so far.

The cuisine was great, and the area was quaint for my tastes. Nonetheless, I almost enjoyed my time inside and the food! But the place could use some work... When you first walk in, it's near dark. It's got a shady vibe to it, like a hangout for a heist movie. There's a pool table and some candy machines that add to that vibe, and the sign at the back really adds to that ambiance. The mood was spectacular! When you order, they give you these two things of bread that look AND taste divine. It was a highlight, for sure. I settled for the Diavolo since it caught my eye, and I ordered it mild. Food came out hot, but took a while despite being one of the only people in there. It's filling, but spicy even though I wanted it mild... Sounds pretty good, right? Well, a couple things. It's a small thing, but just walking in, I got hit with the "NO MASKS" treatment since a lot of people were catching sick at that time. Now normally I don't mind taking it off- how else am I going to dine in? Their thing was that they "wanted to know who I was walking in." Like, yikes, was I on a bounty? I mean there's really no easy way to put it, but just a simple "Please no masks inside," would have been fine. Then of course, the food. It wasn't anything to write home about, so I won't say much here besides "it was okay." Overall, I wanted to try the cannoli, but I was dissuaded by the upfront expectations I had already. Honestly, I came for the cuisine (and let's be honest, the responses,) but found my expectations put down a notch. It's a good place, maybe fun to try once or twice. But not for me, sadly.

I don’t usually write reviews, but Luigi’s absolutely deserves the spotlight. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with that warm, comforting aroma of real Italian cooking that sets the tone for the entire experience. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do—but let’s talk about the real star of the show: the Alfredo. Hands down, this is the best Alfredo I’ve ever had. Rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned without being too heavy—it’s the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savor every bite. Whether you get it with chicken, shrimp, or just classic fettuccine, the sauce clings beautifully to the pasta, and the portion sizes are generous without going overboard. What really blew me away, though, was how good it still was the next day. I usually find leftover Alfredo turns into a thick, clumpy mess, but not at Luigi’s. I reheated it and it was just as silky and flavorful as it was fresh. That’s when you know the ingredients and technique are top-tier. If you’re anywhere near Luigi’s, do yourself a favor and try the Alfredo. It’s the kind of comfort food that makes you wish you found the place sooner.

We, my wife and I, were to meet up with my eldest son and his girlfriend at this new pizza place they had found. I reluctantly agreed solely because they had a 50% off cupon they had won. See I like pizzas from very few locations so I had my reservations. When I was close enough to see the name of the location I was even more apprehensive as I do not like most Italian restaurants most of them offer too little for too much. Upon entering you are greeted by your waitress, 2 pool tables, and on certain nights as ours was live jazz saxophone playing. We were given menus and I expressed my concerns about portion sizes, as most Italian restaurants I have been to serve very small portions with a lot of bread. I was assured by my son and the chef / entrepreneur's daughter, our waitress, their portions were of decent size. Okay, so now I was torn on what to order as I love a deep nice sized lasagna as well as Stromboli. They had what they were calling a Super Stromboli which won out as the listing for the lasagna was rather plain. I ordered and then my wife ordered. She wanted the smaller Stromboli and ordered the lasagna, she looked at me and said this way we could have leftovers for my daughter, so I agreed. The waitress informed us that the strombolies would take about 30 minutes to make, just so that we would know this was not fast food. We agreed the wait would be okay as our son had just come back from California so we had plenty to talk about. Once the food was Ready and coming to rest on the table before us I was astonished! Portions adult sized! The Super Stromboli was layered with meat, vegetables, and cheese, it truly could have fed two. I only ate half of it and half of the lasagna which was thick and filled the "boat" dish which so many times I have seen presented a third full. Not this one. Cheese was over flowing the boat. I dare say the boat was sinking in a pot of cheese when the chef rescued it. The lasagna and the stromboli were the best I have ever had. Their bread was very good as well but I would recommend a limit of 1 to 2 pieces as the main course truly is the main course. The next time my wife wants Italian food the folks at Luigi's will see us again as the prices were fair for the portions. Cost I would say $$ to $$$ but the higher priced items are designed to feed several.

EDIT: Upon my second visit to Luigi's I noticed an admin fee. I asked about it and the answer I received was understandable. I wasn't going to update my review, as everything about the restaurant was the same, until I read other reviews noting this charge and condemning them for it. This admin fee is a credit / debt card fee. Many small businesses are charged fees for the convenience of their customers to use plastic as payment. Most of these small business can not cover all of these charges and pass the cost on to the plastic user rather than raising their prices for all customers. Don't like plastic use fees, no problem simply stop by your closest ATM on the way and get about $20 per person this will cover most items and tip. When you get your receipt will see two payment options at the bottom of the receipt "Credit" and "Cash". Simply pay the cash amount.

P. S. My $ scale is as follows. $ 5-8 $$...

I have now had 3 different horrible experiences with this restaurant which is super disappointing being that it came recommended by some friends of mine.

In my first situation, about a year ago, my boyfriend and I went to grab dinner together. When we walked into the restaurant, the woman behind the counter, ignored us for a while, but we took a seat and waited patiently. We ordered our food and it took an unbelievably long time to get to the table. We were on a time crunch so I thought we Should just ask for to go boxes immediately. I knew we wouldn’t have time to finish our meal there. I wasn’t impressed with the food at all. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed.

In our second visit, we decided to go ahead and order the food ahead of time, and my boyfriend went by to pick it up. We live literally in the neighborhood right across the street off of Silver Sage. Again, the blonde woman behind the counter was extremely rude to him, and it took forever to even get her attention as she was in the back somewhere.

Today was the last straw. I went in as a DoorDash driver to pick up an order. Mind you this was not my order. The woman behind the counter told me they had about 10 orders that the Cook was working on. So I decided to go ahead and pick up the other orders I had And just come back and pick up this order. I picked up three orders from a restaurant on the same street and came right back. It took a little longer than I expected so when I got back and saw the two men who came in after me still sitting there waiting for their orders I was a little surprised. Again, there was no one at the front counter to help. So I said hello about three times trying to get someone’s attention in the back to let them know that I was there. A man comes out And starts yelling at me. He comes around the counter and shows me a bell that was sitting behind their tip jar. He starts ringing it vigorously. And continues to yell at me about trying to get someone’s attention with my “hellos”. I’ll admit that each I said, got a little louder because I know how loud a kitchen could be and I didn’t know if someone could hear me. He was completely out of line and rude to me, and when I tried to apologize and get a word in, he just kept interrupting me. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced. When the woman finally came out of the back, she proceeded to yell at me as well, and purposely slowly got my order together. I found this extremely unprofessional and immature.

Now, not only will I never pick up an order for them through DoorDash again, I will also be telling every person I know never to eat there again, and obviously I would never order food from them again. They were both completely...

If I could 0 stars for this establishment I would. I decided to give this restaurant a try because I had heard from a relative that the food and service was amazing. Today was my first and will definitely be my last because I originally placed an order online for pickup which stated it was going to be ready at 5:44pm. I spent a grand total of $44.16 and got to the restaurant at 5:27pm once inside I decided it would be a better idea to eat at the location instead of taking it to go. When I walked inside their was nobody at the front to greet me and stood there waiting for about 3-5 minutes before someone finally came out the back. I was not greeted and had to walk up to the slim male employee and stated to him, "I placed an online to go order and asked if there was any way I could make it for here" He seemed bothered and told me, "well its already packaged" In my opinion why should it matter if its packaged or not I am the customer who is paying for your food and it should not be a problem when I arrived 17 mins before completion time to give them more than enough time to where it would have not been a problem. While I was waiting on my food, a food delivery driver was waiting on an order to deliver. The cashier handed the delivery driver the food order and as the food delivery driver walked out he DROPPED THE FOOD ORDER ON THE GROUND! The driver walked back inside and all the employee from the restaurant did was RE-BAG THE FOOD ORDER RATHER THAN MAKING A NEW ONE. Im sorry but if my food was dropped on the ground and re-bagged I would definitely never order a to-go order from here. Finally my order was ready and it was bagged to go when I had stated upon my arrival that I was going to eat it there. I had to help myself to silverware, plates, napkins, and my own drinks. Once I finally sat down after serving myself and eating my food, not once was I checked on, not once was I acknowledged by the staff, and if this restaurant prides themselves on their food than they should learn the meaning of customer service. If you want to give this place a shot by all means do it at your own risk because if you want disrecpectful customer service, food dropped on the ground and re-bagged, all while spending your hard earned money than be my guest. I will never come back to a...
