Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Hammond

I was already "done" with going here, but with how close this location is to where I live and with my struggle to find any other food available at the time, I figured I'd give this place one more try. I parked and entered the store and walked to the ordering station. A lady came walking up from behind the counter muttering something at me. I asked her "what was that?" and she said "online orders or drive through only you can't order in here". Even though I wasn't shocked because they pick random days to often do this, I was tired of having to think "I wonder if I can order some food today if I'm lucky" from a restaurant inside. I simply asked her "Why?" because if they can ring me up from my car, why can they not ring me up in person face to face? She started talking so fast and aggressive that I didn't even understand what she was saying. Something about "our register is down" or "we don't have someone running register" or something and going on and on so I just turned around and said "alright" as I was leaving she said "Don't come up in here with no attitude". Again, I'm not even surprised, which is the most shameful part of this whole experience. Easy to figure I will officially not show up here anymore, and don't recommend anyone to go to this location, you'd be lucky if you even get food.

For the record, I never wrote a negative review in my life, and hope to never have to again. I stopped myself in the past from writing negatively about this place but this was it for me.

Things have really changed in the past 10 years, especially after COVID. Work ethics, respect, and standards have plummeted down drastically. I know it's a fast food restaurant, but there are professional standards that need to be re taught. Restaurants just close whenever they feel like it, decide to only do drive through whenever they feel like it, always forget special requests like sauces or sides, talk back to customers, expect tips every single order, or whatever other nonsense. This popeyes takes the cake for the most unfriendly, rude, and unpleasant experience at any restaurant I’ve ever been to. I’ve visited this location several times over the last couple of months, and it’s the same story every time.

There’s 1 or 2 decent, kind employees who try their hardest, but overall you have a team of employees who don’t care about doing their job properly or making their customers happy.

Cortney is EXTREMELY rude, and simply stares at you if you come into the store. I can’t emphasize enough that she stops what she’s doing to stand by the counter and just stare at you. This is not an issue of being understaffed, or too busy, it’s a matter of literally hating your customers. I tried to greet her several times, and was just stared at. When fulfilling my order, she told the cooks they needed more spicy strips and then said under her breath that I will be getting mild either way, instead of asking me if I wanted to wait. You’ve literally made me dread the idea of going to popeyes chicken for the first time in my life.

I truly don’t understand. I work in food service and have for my entire working life. I would never dream of treating customers like this, refusing to even acknowledge them as another human being who’s trying to make a connection with you through a greeting or a smile. If you hate your job so much, you can find PLENTY of hiring and help wanted signs around town, instead of making other people miserable.

2/21/24 Gave it a few months. Not a damn soul in line. See. I told y'all if you kept acting this way, no one was going to do business here.

Got my fries quick. Small win. I'll up you 1 Star. Keep working on it. When y'all cook the chicken good and have fast service, I'll see about some more stars.

11/11/23 No better now. Same people, same games, higher prices. Wow $12 for 3 tenders meal. Waht?

2 months later. Order a 3 piece strips, spicy, fries and ketsup for the sauce. Hands me 1/2 mild plays it off like they did know, no ketsup and pulls me up cause they waiting on the spicy strips. $13 for a 3 piece strip meal with a large drink.

You got a line wrapped around this join daily cause your people don't care and your prices plus this service is why I had to stop coming here daily like I used to.

Can't spend $13 on 3 strips just to be giving the wrong food and then wait for 20 minutes for the right stuff...

Even took the rest of my food back with it. I could have been enjoying my biscuit and fries while waiting.
