Loveeeee this place! I cannot tell you how much I love the food here. My brother discovered it while going to Southeastern and brought myself and my parents there. The service can be slow at times when it's crowded but the food is delicious. I usually get the Italiano panini with sweet potato fries and they never disappoint! Also, the pizzas there are delicious! One in particular called the Capone on thin wheat crust. The food pairs well with an ice cold Abita Amber.
Update: The above review I posted was from 3 years ago. My family and I try going to Tommy's on a regular when we're in Hammond because how good we remember the food to be. They are still on a limited menu which is understandable due to COVID but yesterday , 04/22/2021, around 3p the hostess was so rude and caught an attitude with my family and I when we requested a different table because we had a little one. When we left immediately we tried calling back to talk to a manager and in all honesty we don't know if we actually got one or not on the phone but the gentleman we talked to was making excuses for the horrible customer service we just dealt with. She was the only server there at the time which I would understand her frustration if they were busy at the time but they weren't. She was sitting at the bar doing her own thing before we requested a table. Its almost like we disturbed her by just being there. I can tell you right now this past year Tommy's has gone down hill. My family and I won't be back unfortunately and I won't be recommending Tommy's to anyone like I have in the past. Instead if anyone wants great customer service nd even better food go to Salty Joe's right down the road. Completely different...
Read moreWhere to begin…. We placed a carry out order tonight and our total was 104$+ We ordered 2 appetizers and they were perfect. We also ordered 4 pizzas. 2 small specialty pizzas, 1 medium pepperoni, and one large specialty pizza with extra cheese and jalapeños.
All of our pizzas dough was completely raw. Not mushy. Raw. As in you could pull the dough and wrap it around your finger raw.
I’ve been eating Tommy’s pizza for basically my entire life and I’ve never had an issue, but tonight was different.
I live about 30 minutes from the location and when I called to let them know that 4 out of 6 items were raw the manager said she wanted to tell the owner and the owner wanted me to bring the pizzas back to get a refund, but that I would have to bring them back to the location and show him the pizzas. Again, I live 30 minutes away.
I told them I could send them photos and did not want them remade but a refund.
The manager stated they use biscuit dough and that is why they are not cooked all the way (?)
They called me while I was writing this, and said they wanted to “respect the credit” meaning that they just wanted to offer me a credit for the exact pizzas in the future. Again, I offered to provide photos of the items, she said it wasn’t needed, then stated I now have a store credit for 4 pizzas. I don’t want pizzas that are going to be raw. You can keep your store credit.
If I’m going to spend $100+ on pizza, I’ll just go...
Read more5 star service. 2 star food. 5 star atmosphere!
My hubby and I went on Sunday night around 9:30. Guy playing a wide range of genres on acoustic was cool. Great atmosphere. We were seated almost immediately. Half price pitchers/wine was awesome. Bartender said they didn't have a Vodka Gimlet. After I told her it was a simple recipe she made it, and made it good! Asked to taste the sauces before we ordered. Both are TERRIBLE. Sweet sauce taste like pure sugar and zesty taste like they opened a can of tomato sauce, added a TON of dry italian herbs and didn't cook it. We should have left then. Instead, we took a risk combined them for our pizza. (We had just got to Hammond after driving 6 hours, SO hungry) Our appetizer was Parmesan breadsticks. DELICIOUS w/o sauce. You can tell they use real parm. Pizza was awful. Very soggy. It was mush. Sauce was way overpowering. Couldn't eat it. We were still going to pay for it but the manager was very nice and took it off the bill. It must be the locals who grew up on this pizza that keeps this business going. If the zesty sauce was just cooked for an hour or so, the herbs could soften, add some salt/pepper, it really would...
