Brusters is a sweatshop not a sweet shop.
My daughter worked at Brusters in Gibsonia for a couple of weeks and still has not received pay that is due to her. Matter of fact, her first paycheck was for $2.91. Upset, she contacted the owner, Glenn Pilarski, he said it âlooked right and he will explain taxesâ to her. From that day forward, he ignored any of her messages questioning the error in pay.
After letting them know that we plan to contact Pittsburgh DOL Wages and Hours division, we received a call from Glennâs daughter, Sara, who co-manages the shop. She spoke very quickly and now claims it is the paycheck companyâs fault for the incorrect pay and they are âat the mercy of the paycheck company to correct this.â It is almost July, and our daughter is still owed over $100 for training hours worked in April/May 2022.
Something is certainly not right at Brusters in Gibsonia, and I would like other parents in the area to be aware of this. For a moment, I liked the rules and respect they demand of their young employees, but I also thought they would be returning it. There are plenty of other part-time job options and employers that will pay teens for their work. I would steer clear...
Read moreBrusters in Gibsonia has been my go to ice cream spot for years now. Ever since the new management took over, things have been fantastic. I usually go with Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, but staff are generous and let you try different flavors before ordering. I also wanted to specifically mention how friendly and kind the staff are! The owner introduced himself and thanked me for coming out. I even saw the manager run out of the store to help an elderly woman load some ice cream into her car, as she was having trouble. Even on days when there are long lines of people, the staff and owners are very friendly and should be commended on their customer service. I have certainly seen my fair share of rude customers at the window, and the staff always remain professional and courteous. Please go out and support this locally owned,...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Brewster's, but it certainly will not be my last! They have a great and varied selection of ice cream, the best I've had in a very long time!đ§đŠ It is "hard" ice cream, but is very creamy and not hard at all... If you bring the kids...they have purple ice cream (its actually vanilla) and if they are shorter than the walk-up counter, they receive a free cone! The only 'con' I can remotely come up with is that it is a drive-in/walk-up counter type of place without a public restroom đ lol But, they do have many tables to sit at, handicap parking, take-out bags and it is on Rt. 8 and near the...
