I usually only write positive reviews but tonight just was such a disappointing experience. My twin girls and I like to try out different restaurants. I have been going to old salt since it was on the Hampton strip and have frequented this location a few times as well so we decided to try it tonight. Upon entering, I quickly saw that there was a booth open on the bar side so I asked the host if the girls and I could sit in the bar area and she said absolutely seat yourself after sitting there for 10 minutes, waitress came over and rudely put down menus and just said do you want something to drink I ordered a glass of wine and before I could even order my girls anything she just walked away. Didn't even ask if my girls wanted anything. After waiting for my wine for another 10 minutes, she came back and said, are you ready to order and at that point she did ask if the girls wanted something to drink. My Girls were hoping for bread but didn't get any. Other tables had some. The table Next to us sat at this point and the waitress was overly friendly to them, so she clearly just did not like us. Within 5 minutes of ordering the food came out, way faster than the glass of wine. Which also tells me they are not cooking to order and things are being made in mass quantity I ordered a $30 baked stuffed haddock with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The food delivery young guy was super nice and said the casserole dish would be hot to be careful. But funny enough it wasn't hot and the vegetables were ice cold. The waitress also Never brought my daughter a setup of silverware. The waitress checked in about 5 minutes later and I said very nicely I hate to complain but the vegetables are cold and she goes ohhh ok sorry I'll get another one. 20 minutes go by and now I'm done eating what I can the fish was ok not awful not the best the stuffing was good and my girls did likelike the Luke warm mashed potato's and I never got my vegetables she said she was getting
I finally got her attention that I wanted boxes and nicely Said I never got my vegetables and she said oh I'm sorry. At this point she left to go get boxes and did come back with a dessert for us to share which was nice And her tone did change a little and she did package my Food. She then dropped the bill and we ate the dessert the weird part was she came and got the signed copy immediately. I tipped her 20 percent. Overall She made me feel like I was this horrible person sitting at her table with my kids who were perfect. The kids meals were fine no issue . No kids cups maybe because we were on bar side but if you don't want kids on that side tell your host . Overall it was such a dissatisfying night out with my girls. I get it people Have rough days but when you treat the other customers with kindness I expect the same and we were nothing but kind. On top of the service the food has gone down hill In the last few years. There is so Many places in the Seacoast area and for $30 a plate there is much Much better...
Read moreI am spending the summer here in Hampton and noticed that dollar oysters were served here on Monday evenings - score! So I came on Monday (7/14/25) with my 3 little kids, my teenage sister and my mom. We ordered 36 oysters and 2 early bird specials to share and an early bird special to go for my dad. Each special came with 2 sides, a salad, a main course and a dessert. They have military discount here which I thought was nice since most places have done away with that so she discounted our check 15% for that. We had a great experience and I said “I’ll be coming back often with my kiddos this summer”. Fast forward to today (Wednesday 7/16/25) and everything was so different. I came with my three kids again and my sister but this time my sister brought her boyfriend. We again got the early bird special but this time we were informed that it only comes with one side, not two. After ordering one 3 course meal for me to share with the kids (it was only 3pm mind you and we weren’t coming for dinner, more of a snack) and my 15 year old sister and her boyfriend also decided to share a meal. After ordering the waitress, Esme, came back to inform us that we were not allowed to share early bird specials and that we all had to order our own meals to be served. I have never heard of an establishment refusing to serve if everyone wasn’t eating. So I informed her that we weren’t having dinner but a snack and my sister and her boyfriend are young and he wanted to pay their bill so $40+ tax and tip for a snack is crazy. Plus I’m not ordering my 3, 4 and 7 year olds their own 3 course dinner meal lol. Long story short she reluctantly let us eat and the portion sizes SHOWED they were mad. We just ate here 2 days ago and when I say everything was smaller today I mean it. The dessert was even little lol. When our salads came she never brought silverware. Then when the food came we asked for some and were then given 2 sets of silverware even though she knew the teenagers were sharing. She also informed the teenagers that ordering the cake instead of the apple crisp was an up-charge but they agreed they would rather have the cake. Once the bill came they noticed they were charged full price for the cake but never got their dessert that came with the meal. I asked for the military discount again because I knew they offered it and she said they couldn’t do it because the early bird is already discounted (which I understand, I just don’t know why the rules changed since Monday). There is obviously a severe difference in management depending on the day and I just want to say that you should try and avoid going when Jeffery is MOD and go when Katie or George...
