Old Salt is a culinary treasure, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere paired with some of the best steak tips and burgers in town. This charming establishment has become a favorite for locals and visitors alike, thanks to its hearty menu and friendly service. The steak tips at Old Salt are simply exceptional. Cooked to perfection, these tender, juicy morsels are marinated with a blend of savory spices that enhance the natural flavors of the beef. Each bite is a testament to the chef's skill and the quality of ingredients used. Whether you prefer them grilled to a perfect medium-rare or well-done, the steak tips here never disappoint. Equally impressive are the burgers. Crafted with premium beef and cooked to order, Old Salt’s burgers are juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. The Classic Cheeseburger is a go-to, topped with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, and a signature sauce that adds a delicious kick. For those looking for something a bit different, the Bacon Bleu Burger, with its crumbled bleu cheese and crispy bacon, offers a delightful twist on the traditional favorite. The service at Old Salt is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable. They are quick to greet you with a smile, offer menu recommendations, and check in regularly to make sure you have everything you need. The efficient and accommodating service contributes significantly to the restaurant’s warm and inviting atmosphere. Old Salt boasts a cozy and relaxed ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The décor is rustic yet charming, with nautical touches that pay homage to the restaurant's name. Comfortable seating, warm lighting, and a welcoming vibe make it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special gatherings. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between laid-back and lively, making it suitable for families, couples, and groups of friends. **Overall Experience:** Dining at Old Salt is a delightful experience that combines high-quality food, excellent service, and a comfortable ambiance. The steak tips and burgers are standout items that showcase the restaurant’s commitment to flavor and satisfaction. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, Old Salt delivers a consistently great meal that keeps you coming back for more. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy some of the best steak tips and burgers in town.

We went here on Thanksgiving Day. After being here many times before, this was the first time on Thanksgiving, we can say were very unhappy with the food and our waitress. It took quite a long time before she even came over to ask if we wanted any drinks. We wanted the appetizer first and we got our dinners first and the appetizer last. My son and husband ordered the turkey dinner and we couldn't believe how small the portions were. The butternut squash was frozen and the peas were canned. They both were served two very thin pieces of turkey, no extra gravy for the whipped potatoes. Very tiny container of cranberry sauce. I ordered prime rib and the end piece was all fat. The piece was very thin and the au-jus was very cold. Very little squash. I couldn't believe they served frozen squash and canned peas for the prices we were paying. Very inferior food quality for the prices we paid. The waitress Judy P. never came by once to ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Very inattentive and in my opinion, she shouldn't even be waitressing. Too much for her to handle, for her age. In fact, I had to ask another waitress walking by for our coffee. She was happy to assist us. Mistakes were made on our checks, they weren't processed properly by her. We've been coming here for many years for Thanksgiving and unfortunately, we will not be returning. Other people have mentioned that the quality and service are not the same and they wouldn't be returning either. We were very disappointed and unhappy with the quality of the food and the unsatisfactory service!!

We don’t live too far from the Old Salt so we’ve been dozens of times and got takeout all through Covid. Firstly, I miss their parking lot outdoor area. The music and all was so fun. But their parking lot was always tight so I get it. The space is awesome. The Revolutionary style tavern dining room is stunning and so well done. I love all the deep woods and rustic vibes. I really like that the bar/pub is a separate space. It allows you to have the kind of evening you want to have. I’ve reached the age where I do hate high top seating because it’s so uncomfortable (the pub is mostly high tops), so I can just sit in the dining room. The food is very inconsistent. I’ve had some of my favorite things there and truly terrible dishes, as well. Overall I find the food extremely average with a few exceptions and that’s fine. Staff is the same. We’ve had amazing service and poor service (like this past St. Patrick’s Day). It’s never bad in the sense we’d never return, more like having to ask for drinks or forgotten items multiple times. A few gruff employees but for the most part all are pleasant.

I usually only write positive reviews but tonight just was such a disappointing experience. My twin girls and I like to try out different restaurants. I have been going to old salt since it was on the Hampton strip and have frequented this location a few times as well so we decided to try it tonight. Upon entering, I quickly saw that there was a booth open on the bar side so I asked the host if the girls and I could sit in the bar area and she said absolutely seat yourself after sitting there for 10 minutes, waitress came over and rudely put down menus and just said do you want something to drink I ordered a glass of wine and before I could even order my girls anything she just walked away. Didn't even ask if my girls wanted anything. After waiting for my wine for another 10 minutes, she came back and said, are you ready to order and at that point she did ask if the girls wanted something to drink. My Girls were hoping for bread but didn't get any. Other tables had some. The table Next to us sat at this point and the waitress was overly friendly to them, so she clearly just did not like us. Within 5 minutes of ordering the food came out, way faster than the glass of wine. Which also tells me they are not cooking to order and things are being made in mass quantity I ordered a $30 baked stuffed haddock with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The food delivery young guy was super nice and said the casserole dish would be hot to be careful. But funny enough it wasn't hot and the vegetables were ice cold. The waitress also Never brought my daughter a setup of silverware. The waitress checked in about 5 minutes later and I said very nicely I hate to complain but the vegetables are cold and she goes ohhh ok sorry I'll get another one. 20 minutes go by and now I'm done eating what I can the fish was ok not awful not the best the stuffing was good and my girls did likelike the Luke warm mashed potato's and I never got my vegetables she said she was getting

I finally got her attention that I wanted boxes and nicely Said I never got my vegetables and she said oh I'm sorry. At this point she left to go get boxes and did come back with a dessert for us to share which was nice And her tone did change a little and she did package my Food. She then dropped the bill and we ate the dessert the weird part was she came and got the signed copy immediately. I tipped her 20 percent. Overall She made me feel like I was this horrible person sitting at her table with my kids who were perfect. The kids meals were fine no issue . No kids cups maybe because we were on bar side but if you don't want kids on that side tell your host . Overall it was such a dissatisfying night out with my girls. I get it people Have rough days but when you treat the other customers with kindness I expect the same and we were nothing but kind. On top of the service the food has gone down hill In the last few years. There is so Many places in the Seacoast area and for $30 a plate there is much Much better...

I am spending the summer here in Hampton and noticed that dollar oysters were served here on Monday evenings - score! So I came on Monday (7/14/25) with my 3 little kids, my teenage sister and my mom. We ordered 36 oysters and 2 early bird specials to share and an early bird special to go for my dad. Each special came with 2 sides, a salad, a main course and a dessert. They have military discount here which I thought was nice since most places have done away with that so she discounted our check 15% for that. We had a great experience and I said “I’ll be coming back often with my kiddos this summer”. Fast forward to today (Wednesday 7/16/25) and everything was so different. I came with my three kids again and my sister but this time my sister brought her boyfriend. We again got the early bird special but this time we were informed that it only comes with one side, not two. After ordering one 3 course meal for me to share with the kids (it was only 3pm mind you and we weren’t coming for dinner, more of a snack) and my 15 year old sister and her boyfriend also decided to share a meal. After ordering the waitress, Esme, came back to inform us that we were not allowed to share early bird specials and that we all had to order our own meals to be served. I have never heard of an establishment refusing to serve if everyone wasn’t eating. So I informed her that we weren’t having dinner but a snack and my sister and her boyfriend are young and he wanted to pay their bill so $40+ tax and tip for a snack is crazy. Plus I’m not ordering my 3, 4 and 7 year olds their own 3 course dinner meal lol. Long story short she reluctantly let us eat and the portion sizes SHOWED they were mad. We just ate here 2 days ago and when I say everything was smaller today I mean it. The dessert was even little lol. When our salads came she never brought silverware. Then when the food came we asked for some and were then given 2 sets of silverware even though she knew the teenagers were sharing. She also informed the teenagers that ordering the cake instead of the apple crisp was an up-charge but they agreed they would rather have the cake. Once the bill came they noticed they were charged full price for the cake but never got their dessert that came with the meal. I asked for the military discount again because I knew they offered it and she said they couldn’t do it because the early bird is already discounted (which I understand, I just don’t know why the rules changed since Monday). There is obviously a severe difference in management depending on the day and I just want to say that you should try and avoid going when Jeffery is MOD and go when Katie or George...
