We went here on Thanksgiving Day. After being here many times before, this was the first time on Thanksgiving, we can say were very unhappy with the food and our waitress. It took quite a long time before she even came over to ask if we wanted any drinks. We wanted the appetizer first and we got our dinners first and the appetizer last. My son and husband ordered the turkey dinner and we couldn't believe how small the portions were. The butternut squash was frozen and the peas were canned. They both were served two very thin pieces of turkey, no extra gravy for the whipped potatoes. Very tiny container of cranberry sauce. I ordered prime rib and the end piece was all fat. The piece was very thin and the au-jus was very cold. Very little squash. I couldn't believe they served frozen squash and canned peas for the prices we were paying. Very inferior food quality for the prices we paid. The waitress Judy P. never came by once to ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Very inattentive and in my opinion, she shouldn't even be waitressing. Too much for her to handle, for her age. In fact, I had to ask another waitress walking by for our coffee. She was happy to assist us. Mistakes were made on our checks, they weren't processed properly by her. We've been coming here for many years for Thanksgiving and unfortunately, we will not be returning. Other people have mentioned that the quality and service are not the same and they wouldn't be returning either. We were very disappointed and unhappy with the quality of the food and the unsatisfactory service!!

We don’t live too far from the Old Salt so we’ve been dozens of times and got takeout all through Covid. Firstly, I miss their parking lot outdoor area. The music and all was so fun. But their parking lot was always tight so I get it. The space is awesome. The Revolutionary style tavern dining room is stunning and so well done. I love all the deep woods and rustic vibes. I really like that the bar/pub is a separate space. It allows you to have the kind of evening you want to have. I’ve reached the age where I do hate high top seating because it’s so uncomfortable (the pub is mostly high tops), so I can just sit in the dining room. The food is very inconsistent. I’ve had some of my favorite things there and truly terrible dishes, as well. Overall I find the food extremely average with a few exceptions and that’s fine. Staff is the same. We’ve had amazing service and poor service (like this past St. Patrick’s Day). It’s never bad in the sense we’d never return, more like having to ask for drinks or forgotten items multiple times. A few gruff employees but for the most part all are pleasant.

This review features The Old Salt Restaurant and their weekly Sunday Brunch. Reservations are recommended. Situated in an 18th c. building with a history, our party of 4 were seated in a booth in the main room at 12:30. Early American style settle benches along the walls and open seating in the middle. Warm and cozy ambiance, accentuated by the wood-burning fireplace. A nice assortment of food, pastries and desserts were offered. I start off with breakfast fare and advance to the carving station for the roast beef and the turkey. The desserts were a delight. Nice and friendly staff. We will return again. $29.99 pp.
