On a recent business trip I discovered this restaurant while looking for a place to eat. I absolutely loved the décor and style of this building, portions of it built-in the 1600s and other parts built-in the early 1800s it's rustic / historic and warm feel resonated with me. There is a nice upstairs area covered in old wine bottles which look amazing as you walk up the stairs and into the upper room. The downstairs has 2 bar seating areas as well as tables in the front and rear. There was plenty of parking and it was not too busy when we arrived. The service was friendly prompt and everything was delicious. If you're looking for great food and a place with a lot of character, this may be up your alley.

This place is an absolute gem! A bar and a restaurant in one place! We were a group of 7 people! 1. Service was efficient and courteous 2. The inside decor is an absolute sight for the eyes 3. Washrooms are really clean 4. Food was absolutely delicious 5. Pricing was more than decent for the quality and quantity of food ordered. I ordered the Thai lettuce wrap without much expectations. However, it was delicious. The spicy peanut butter sauce and well seasoned chicken were it for me! The food was so good, our group came back the very next day for supper! The Mac & Cheese is also an absolute must!

401 Tavern has made amazing improvements over the past few years. The food, drinks, and new outdoor dining section make it one of the funnest lunch/dinner spots in Hampton. The cocktail menu is large - with fun drinks. The Spice World Margarita is my new favorite - although I wish their drinks were stronger. The food menu has never disappointed me. We love the pulled chicken nachos, quesadillas, and a variety of mac n' cheese dishes. I would have never recommended this place to my friends a few years ago, but after their many additions, I would suggest 401 as a must-visit.

The Reuben was pretty good. The macaroni and cheese was outstanding. I dig the rustic atmosphere. Absolutely fair prices. I just wish they had hand cut fries or something like that instead of tater tots. But that's just what women's opinion! I would definitely go back. This was my 1st time. Went back and got the grilled chicken club wrap. AMAZING. Yet again, the macaroni and cheese was outstanding. I don't know the bartender's name, but she remembered me and she's always very nice. A chill place to stop for a bite.
