Scratch Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Hampton

My wife and I had loved the cupcakes at this bakery so much prepandemic we decided to have this place do a great amount of cupcakes for our wedding August 2020. We'll, the pandemic happened and that couldn't happen. We held off to try to do it the following year and it still wasn't safe to have our wedding. We tried to get a refund and was told that they had a new system and couldn't retrieve our receipt of purchase by one manager. A total of two managers had told us we could get a refund prior but when we went back they both had been fired. The owner told us we had a year to have our refund honored, however, no one ever mentioned that to us at all. We asked could we then use the money already spent for our son's first birthday party but the owner said she couldn't confirm without a receipt. My wife went up there the next day and the owner wasn't there. Contacted them numerous times and got excuses. Owner never contacted us to resolve the issue and just kept the nearly $200 we paid for a service that was never received. It's been 6 months since we went back up to the bakery to try to come to a resolution regarding services purchased and we have yet to hear anything from the owner. I placed an order for CUSTOM cupcakes for my niece’s graduation about 3 weeks ago. I came to pick them up today and the cupcakes were only iced with dyed icing. No decorations or anything on them. Not even sprinkles lol.

When I placed the order, I had almost a 20 min conversation with 2 of the women that were supposedly the baker & the decorator. I told them I wanted JMU theme and that they could have fun with the design and play around with it. I told them that I trusted them to make them look nice but to literally just put purple and yellow icing? Like that’s not decorating anything.

I ended up not taking them because it I just wanted purple and yellow icing I could have just made them myself or gone to Costco instead of paying $65 for one dozen.

On top of that, the other dozen of lemon blueberry cupcakes weren’t even made/ready for me so Charisma had to quickly put that together for me.

Hopefully the manager gets back to me because I paid in advance and since she wasn’t here today the girls that were working (Charisma & idk the other girls name) were unable to process it or decorate the cupcakes for me. I appreciate Charisma’s effort in trying to resolve the situation for...

The best items the fam loved the most on your menu... "Triple Strawberry cupcake, bread pudding, peach cobbler both topped w/ scoop of homemade butter pecan ice cream, and banna pudding absolutely "Delish!" You can deff "taste the love ❤️

Historical Phoebus's Main Street is a great place for us to take a weekend stroll and/or a date-nite/afternoon out with a sweetie. Also, the small business shops, restaurants, Brewery's, and your awesome Bakery Bistro Café are a lovely nuance for our family, friends, and a couples nite-out experience...
