La Dilla is a family hotspot for catering food for parties. Their restaurant is clean, well decorated, and staff is friendly.

The Cedar Lake location is convenient - right across from the Cedar Lake library, connected to Biggby Coffee, and right by Pop’s Italian Beef

One of my favorite foods from the La Dilla is actually their salsa - it has a nice consistency almost like a thin milkshake but also with perfect sized pieces of vegetables (and much of the vegetable pieces). The spiciness level is perfect for me (I am a spiciness lightweight), and I could see spiciness-enthusiasts wanting it to be spicier.

The steak meat for tacos and burritos has a great texture and a unique flavor - I can’t quite put my finger on what makes the steak flavor stand out from the rest, but there’s something about it.

The chicken for tacos and burritos is a sort of pulled chicken that is super moist and nicely seasoned.

The refried beans are good and the rice is good. Nothing that really stands out about them, but the texture is on point.

For the catering there is an onion/cilantro mix (I think it is) and those veggies were very fresh and flavorful.

In our catering order for our party the only thing we ran out of was the Mexican cheese, so I’m not sure if the Mexican cheese was really good and our party ate extra of it, or if the amount of cheese given is a little light compared to the ratio of how people fix their plates.

We enjoyed the tortilla chips (and made nachos the next day as leftovers). At home we usually get El Milagro tortilla chips and the La Dilla hands down beat the El Milagro chips, but my favorite regional tortilla chips are from La Gaviota just west of the railroad tracks just west of Cedar Lake high school.

I heard people at our party state they enjoyed the La Dilla food more than La Quesadilla (where we used to get Mexican catering from prior to trying La Dilla).

If you haven’t been, La Dilla is worth trying out. The pricing is competitive to other regional options and the food...

The only reason this review is not getting 2 stars is because the owner saved our dinner date. (Also, 3 out of 4 to-go orders were incorrect. The 3rd was missing two $15 meals) We arrived on Saturday night busy as usual. We were seated by a girl with pigtails and a hoodie. Owner's kids? Nice starting them young... Or maybe not. Let her know "Hey, we are ready to order if it was all right". (Worked in the food industry so it was understandable if they couldn't take us right away / I'm not sure if kids can take menu requests.) Snapps her neck. Thinks for a moment and responds with a irritated look / tone of voice. "A server will take your order" and leaves. My guest and I give each other the look but we brushed it off. After a while we noticed we were likely forgotten and tried to get someone's attention. We were sitting in front of the kitchen... No one... Until the owner arrived. He spoke with the staff and immediately saw us. (Probably noticed we had no drinks) He was professional and communicated with us. The only reason we would go back is because he obviously cares about the restaurant and we don't want silly or needles mistakes to make us avoid going again. Getting snapped at by a child was a first for us. A little off putting but it's understandable to a degree. Restaurant business...

Adding my review from a year ago for reference because I am honestly not sure what happened. First off, we got drinks this time, her margarita just felt so small for $10 (Fill disclosure we got a happy hour special that brought it to $5 before the $1 charge for raspberry syrup) and my Michelada was also REALLY small for $10. We also had a small Guac for $6.50 which compared to La Carretas large $8 Guacamole was less than satisfactory. She ordered the Chimichanga dinner which was fantastic, but I had to give a 2 star food rating due to the utterly disappointing $18 Carnitas. They are truly the worst I have had. Burnt and bone dry with no flavor at all. The gentlemen that served us was kind however and the atmosphere is great. Unfortunately, bang for buck, I would recommend La Carreta or even El Poblano for what we paid. We personally probably wouldn’t go back just due to this experience but be sure to try for yourself. I also wanted to add real quick that they have great options for Vegans...

In a word, abysmal. Our server was rude. We ordered a side of queso to go with our chips and salsa. The cheese was barely warm. I ordered the three taco dinner, chicken, on corn tortillas. The menu gives you the option of cheese & lettuce OR onion & cilantro. Tomato by request only. For sour cream and/or guacamole there’s an up charge. We had to place our order 3 times, and it still wasn’t right. The man who seemed to be in charge took the food back and brought it back out with the correct toppings. He was much more personable than our server. The chicken was shredded & dry. The tortillas were soggy. I never got my rice & beans. My wife ordered the combo plate. She was very disappointed as well. The server put her finger on our plates everytime she came to ask if everything was ok. Also, there’s different prices if you pay cash. Never saw this before.
