This is a tough review to write. The place is very hip. A cool spot to eat for sure. I don't understand anyone claiming the atmosphere is too loud or bad because it's a bistro it's an open air concept very hip decor and it's supposed to have a loud cool place to hangout atmosphere. It's not a fine dining establishment. Now with that said...
Let's start with the service. My server was very nice. He was polite and attentive. Everyone was in fact. No complaints there. From the host to the food runners and everyone in between they were all polite.
As far as the food goes it gets mixed reviews. It started off great with the bone marrow appetizer which was a special. It's was absolutely delicious. Very inspired choice and cooking. It came with ciabatta bread and it was excellent. What a unique choice and executed perfectly. The salads that came with the entrees were fresh and equally delicious although grated cheese should have been mentioned as being standard as not everyone eats or expects cheese to be placed on a salad when not listed. But the ingredients were fresh and delicious.
Now the entrees. This is where everything went wrong. The chicken was good in parts and seasoned very nicely the fennel really came through but over half of the chicken was dry. The potential was there for a great dish but it was overcooked and the potatoes and root veggies which we opted for over the swiss chard were both equally overcooked. The fingerling potatoes were downright hard. I ordered the special Kona rubbed 10oz ribeye which was chef recommended cooked medium rare and it came out rare to raw. I've posted pictures to show the inside. I love my steak medium rare but this was not that at all. It was barely cooked. I couldn't even cut it with the knife provided. It took several attempts to get my servers attention and eventually had to ask another server to take it back to cook it more which she gladly obliged saying herself that it was undercooked and after about 10 minutes it came back out cooked further. This was disappointing. At this point I had the steak undercooked for over 12-15 mins on the table then another 10 mins to have everything corrected at this point my special friend's meal was long done and it just completely took away the dining experience. For $32 I expected a lot more as anyone would.
Would I go back? Maybe. The salads looked good and people seemed to be enjoying the soups that evening. I just think that for close to $100 with tip that a meal should be top notch and not how the entrees were executed. Again the place is very cool and the staff were wonderful but in the end you go for a great meal which we didn't have...
Read moreHave placed numerous orders through Door Dash and can’t adequately explain just how amazing the food is, but I’ll try!
The cream of crab soup is—hands down, 100%—the best we’ve ever had, huge chunks of sweet crab meat in each & every single bite. 10/10 stars.
The Red Curry Coconut Chicken is beyond delicious, the chicken as moist as it gets. And it must be noted that I don’t usually tend to eat spicy foods, so I was shocked to have even liked it, much less love it as much as I do! It would’ve been 10/10 stars, but the few times we’ve ordered it, the rice has been slightly overcooked, so for this, I deducted a star. 9/10 stars.
The crab fondue is stellar, probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned, thick, bubbly cheese, with massive chunks of crabmeat…Lord have mercy, what else could you ask for? 9/10 stars, and that’s ONLY because I don’t think it’s served with enough ciabatta bread. Therefore, the few times I’ve had it, I was left feeling bereft, as I had a good portion of the actual dip left, but nothing to scoop it up with. It’d be nice to have the option on Door Dash (right on the page where you order the dip) to purchase a second loaf of ciabatta bread. I’d definitely pay extra for an additional loaf, and guarantee other people would as well. That way at least if I have some dip left, instead of having to use whatever bread or crackers I might have available in my house (if any at all), I can pop that second loaf into the oven, and finish up the leftovers like a certified pro! :D
I recall reading a review where someone stated the garlic mashed potatoes were instant. I call bull. They’re definitely not instant, they’re just insanely smooth, buttery and creamy. Perfect 10/10 stars.
Vanilla Bean cheesecake is definitely 10/10 stars. Rich, creamy, heaven…
The only bad thing I can think of regarding this amazing establishment is that they’re not open 24/7/365!
We DEFINITELY recommend Warehouse...
Read moreThe food is outstanding! Fresh, locally sourced seasonal ingredients and an interesting, yet tasty menu. We had the crab grilled cheese, split the crusted potato chip chicken tenders and a chocolate mousse cup. The alcoholic beverages looked amazing but we didn’t have any. The chicken tenders were out of this world even though I usually don’t eat chicken. The handcrafted dipping sauces were special. I loved the honey mustard and bleu cheese. The crab grilled cheese was like crab dip between two slices of homemade sour dough bread. It was grilled perfectly. I took half home because it was that satisfying. The Cole slaw was made with bleu cheese and I actually found a recipe to try making this at home. The chocolate mousse cup was tiny but super decadent. I am only disappointed we didn’t try this place sooner. I didn’t think Hanover was capable of a true gourmet Bistro experience but I was proved wrong. The service here was somewhat lacking. They were slammed busy so we waited awhile for our food at 8 o’clock at night (not their fault). I wish they’d take reservations because it kind of dampened the experience, and I’m surprised the employees are allowed to sit out front in customer eyesight and smoke. A couple employees who brought our food and took our orders (we didn’t really have just one server, we had three), smelled like ashtrays and this is just poor hygiene IMO at best. I did appreciate that they all worked their tails off and sat customers right away. Plenty of tables in this place, which is good because they don’t accept reservations. We were very hot sitting in here on a cold autumn evening. I noticed people taking their jackets, sweaters, etc off and heard other tables complaining about the lack of air. All in all, the ambiance and service could be slightly better but the food is worth the trip! We will gladly return and try sitting...
