Kenny's Cafe — Restaurant in Hapeville

Every Friday, on my day off I come up to the plaza. Sometimes I’m here for a coffee at the coffee shop, sometimes, I run to the Mexican market, but lately, for the past 3 weeks consistently I have been treating myself to lunch at Kenny’s. I have tried this place about a year ago for breakages once while I was doing laundry early one morning. It was great and actually I couldn’t even finish the pancakes 🥞, one meat meal.

I haven’t been out and about that early so I missed breakfast but I have made it for lunch and I got the fried chicken 2X and today I got the fish. Let me say they are be great. The veggies are great also.

I am disappointed that I didn’t get pics as I thought about it after the fact and phone is just about dead. But I would recommend eating here for a quick breakfast or lunch outing. It’s affordable, and the food is tasty. I like that you actually see them pre prep/ and cook/ the food on the griddle so I know everything does not come in industrial cans or frozen prepackaged.

This place has alot of table seating for dining in, next I would love to just sit in and eat and enjoy the moment. Maybe it would be great to have a lunch date with a group.

Food was very sub par and didn’t reflect the reviews that I read on google. I ordered a salmon patty plate which consisted of eggs, cheese grits and a salmon patty. For starters the salmon patty was close to being burnt. I opted not to ask for another patty because I could tell that the salmon lacked flavor. Had little to no seasoning. The eggs were dry and the grits were nothing to brag about. The best thing about the meal was the pancakes but honestly it was nothing special about it. The inside of this establishment is also not inviting. The eating area and decor needs a major update. I would guess this place has the same furniture from 20 years ago. It’s in a great location so I hope the decide to do some upgrades soon. The restaurant next door (JPRESSO) is has a way better aesthetic. Haven’t tried they’re good and coffe options before but I after my experience I wish I would’ve went with my gut and...

My friend and I stopped by Kenny's Cafe for lunch on Saturday (7-6-2024). It was our first time eating at this establishment. My friend had the wings/fries and I had chicken strips/fries. The fries were freshly cooked and hot. The chicken strips-on the other hand- were not ACTUALLY strips (the kind I am used to), but some kind of breaded pressed chicken parts. They were also freshly cooked and hot but not as good as regular chicken strips. If you are looking for real chicken strips, you will have to go somewhere else. The service was good, I think only because we were the only 2 people in the restaurant--besides the owners daughter. The atmosphere was so-so, there was a soccer match on the tv.
