STOP! PLEASE READ THE SIGNS ON THE DOORS and MENUS before you sit and eat at this establishment! Me and my family have lived in the area for many years but never visited this particular restaurant. I frequent Kenny's (a few doors down) and Chick-fil-A. I've eaten at just about all the restaurants on Virginia avenue including: Malone's, Spondivits, Ruby Tuesday, Pit Boss Bar-B-Q, Johnny's Pizza, etc. We try new restaurants all the time and most times we're rather pleased - but not this time! What attracted us was the outside patio. We were all geared up to eat some good ol authentic Mexican food. BOY WERE WE WRONG! It's a front! The menu is definitely Mexican but there's no Mexican heritage going on at this joint. It's a front - far from what we're accustomed to! We love Tex-Mex, authentic Mexican cuisine and everything in between. This place equals BAD! BAD food and BAD service! We ordered fajitas (shrimp, chicken, and steak). Fajitas are supposed to sizzle - I mean really sizzle. There was ABSOLUTELY NO sizzling going on! I turn to my mother and asked, "is yours sizzling...?" because mine wasn't! The food was actually cold. The steak and chicken was hard and flavorless. My sister complained about the taste and size of her burrito. It was very small and the MEAT was VERY MUSHY (taste like organ meat, not ground beef). It was "ground something," just don't know what!? She really wanted to send it back but didn't want to deal with the waiter's nasty attitude, so she packed it - to go - for the dog. The service was really POOR! The waiter did not check on us (no offer on refills). He acted like he had an attitude when we asked for salsa verde - which he charged us for! SMH! There's was a fee for this and fee for that at this establishment - including 18% gratuity add to each check regardless of how bad the service is. When I spoke to the manager about the service and tip, her argument was, she can't take it off because the computer put it on there. Then she pointed to the signs on the doors (THE WARNING Signs). We sat on the patio. We didn't notice any signs on the restaurant's doors. We came to eat, not look for signs. What does it matter? The service was poor, thus, the gratuity should have been removed. She also responded, "My son isn't good enough for the 18% gratuity." I don't care who it is! If the service is poor, the service is poor! He might have earned a buck ($1) or two, but not $10. Gratuity is given for good service! I'm a big tipper but I won't tip someone who gives little to no service. My mother and I recently dined at a popular seafood restaurant and the server was given $25. She earned it - with polite courteous service! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone! PLEASE READ THE SIGNS ON THE DOORS AND MENU before you sit down at this establishment. I DON'T WANT YOU TO BE SURPRISED 😯 ONCE YOU GET YOUR CHECK! 👎👎👎

It was one of those nights that I just had to have tacos! On my journey of exploring new places to eat, I ended up at Sombreros via the recommendation of a friend. The location was easy to find as it sits directly on the main strip. The parking lot is huge and has easy in/out access. As I walked up to the restaurant I could already tell it was a local fav. The ambiance was very chill. It was a nice day so there were people on the patio which added to the draw of the location. Walking in, there was a sign advising to seat yourself, thus we proceeded to do so. Within minutes of being seated chips and salsa were delivered to the table and seconds later we were greeted by our waitress Kiley. Kiley was very pleasant, all smiles, and a true bundle of excitement. She welcomed us in, took our drink and appetizer order, and gave us some time to review the menu. Appetizer: Bean Dip - cheesy, well flavored, huge portion. The menu has a variety of options to choose from. Though I know I wanted tacos, I am excited to go back to explore some of their other menu options… I decided on the 3 Taco Plate and swapped out my Rice and Beans for the Mexican Salad. Fish Taco - very flavorful, the fish was moist, and the fixings were fresh. This was a good taco and I will order it again Buffalo Chicken Taco - this one was my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly. Crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The taco had pieces of celery which to my surprise paired well with the taco. Not only did it add an additional layer of texture, however, the coolness of the celery paired well with the kick of the Buffalo sauce. Traditional Beef Taco - flavorful, meaty, and good. Perfect fix of a traditional taco. Overall, Sombreros was a pleasing experience. The food was good. Kiley provided great service. The restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was upbeat and inviting.

Through travel for work I have the luxury of eating all over the world. I have had Mexican food in many many countries including Mexico. I have eaten at many places I consider fantastic, some as a repeat customer for decades. Sombreros has easily slid into my all-time Top 5 and maybe even Top 3. Everything was spot-on, fresh, super tasty. Every detail. Service was attentive, friendly and detail oriented. I was starving and thirsty. I started with their Top Shelf Margarita w/Herradura Blanco. It was absolutely perfect, strong and balanced. I had another later, also perfect. I decided on Tortilla Soup as an “app”, was really a meal in itself, teeming with fresh pulled chicken, fresh tortilla strips, cheese and veggies. It was perfect temp and a comfort food jackpot. I had originally wanted Enchiladas Suizas(my go to test dish and long time fave) but pivoted to the Sombreros Burrito with steak and mushrooms, as the soup had satiated my chicken needs🤣. Again, this entree was just absolute perfection, even the sour cream tasted special and super fresh, although that coulda been the Herradura doing it’s job. See pics for detail. The Burrito was filling but light at the same time, steak was perfectly charred and sliced. Just absolutely delicious. HIGHLY recommended. I will be back Sombreros!! And this time I’m bringing reinforcements‼️

A couple of friends and I visited this place 6 days ago, we sat diwn and were given a menu pretty quickly, our drink orders were taken and were brought to us promptly. The customer service here is amazing, aside from one younger girk who just sounds like she hates life, but she wasn't our waitress so this review isn't in regards to that.

This is a review about the food: The salsa was 100% amazing, however the tostada chips were VERY stale and some had soft darker spits, im not sure if the chip just wasnt 100% finished cookong or if it was from that part of the chip maybe sitting in greese for too long, i dint make chips, I dont know, but I know they were gross.

We would have ask for different ones, but we could they had a popcorn looking box (movie theatre style) with chips already in bowls, stacked on top of each other, and we didn't want to end up with more stale chips.

When we got our food, one of my friends said theirs tasted fine, im not sure what he got, a sort of chicken chimichanga I think, I got the Taco Loco or Taco Salad with Beef which coukd have only been made better with some fresh guacamole and the melted queso, it was great.

My other friend however, only got half of his order, He got some sort of soup. We finushed eating our entire meal (except the soup, he expected it to be smaller, its HUGE), when the waitress came back, she asked how we were doing, and he started to mention his shrimp coctail, you could tell she had forgot, in the middle of him talking, she ran off and grabbed it, and came back, and apologized. It comes with the shrimp inside of this giant cup of cocktail sauce. The shrimp was hard to stand to eat because it was just too saucy, the sauce itself also wasnt great, though the flavor profile changed once we added some lime to it, it was still not that good.

The only down side to our waitresses performance, was forgetting the cocktail, but also when she asked if we wanted any drink refills, my friends said yes, but she only brought back 1 drink. We were leaving anyway so it wasnt a huge deal, but still worth mentioning.

Sadly the food wasnt good enough for us to want...
