I had the spareribs, pulled pork, and brisket. For the sides I had baked beans and collard greens.
First, the bummer. I was very disappointed with their spareribs. They were very tough and hard to chew. I know for professional BBQ competition they're supposed to be a light tug to get the meat off of the bone.
In this case he really had to wrestle the meat off the bone and then it was very tough to chew which really distracted from what I thought would be a wonderful rib experience.
Pit Boss: Work on your ribs! You can't be in Atlanta and serve ribs like that.
Now for the good, let me say awesome!
The pulled pork was probably the best pulled pork I've ever had and that's saying a lot given that I travel for a living and I probably eat at 25 to 30 different barbecues all over the country every year.
I think Pit Boss BBQ is brilliant with the fact that they don't chop the pulled pork too small. That in turn locks in a lot of the moisture and and flavor.
As for the brisket I was very impressed. The brisket at Pit Boss BBQ can stand up to any Texas brisket any day of the week and I'm even talking about Hard 8 BBQ, Ft Worth.
I don't believe they need to change a thing on the brisket.
I really admire the fact that they serve the sauce separately. Anybody that knows barbecue knows that barbecued covered in sauce is hiding something.
You won't go wrong at all dining at Pit Boss BBQ!
The sides are awesome again I have the collard greens which were perfect!
The baked beans were quite a surprise I will leave that to you to go figure out.
I probably sound like a commercial for these guys and I kind of hope I do. Because it's really a great place to pick up good solid barbecue. But I am not a commercial I am a real and actual patron. And I can't wait for my next layover in Atlanta for more!!
And by the way if you're willing to exit the security at Atlanta Hartsfield international airport, and you have time for some good solid barbecue go ahead and do so grab an Uber and head over...
Read moreI had a taste for bbq, and decided since I was in the area, I would give Pit Boss BBQ a try after hearing from a friend that the food was good. I placed my order online around 7pm on Saturday, 10/1, and received the email confirmation my order would be ready for pick up at 7:30pm. I arrived at 7:25pm, and went to the to go/online order counter. I let the cashier know I was picking up an online order, and provided my name. She handed me the receipt, and said she wasn’t sure if my order was ready. Seems they were very behind in preparing food as their were quite a number of people waiting. I went to the other area for food pickup, and asked the guy if he could let me know if my order was ready. He checked, and said I was 5th in line. I proceeded to wait until my name was called but that didn’t happen. There was another customer that was waiting prior to me getting there. She must have been waiting for a while because she went to the cashier to complain about her food not being ready. The cashier must not have verified that customer’s name because she ended up giving that customer my food. When the customer came back inside with the bag, and let them know the order was wrong, the cashier was looking confused. I walked over to them and said my name. The cashier proceeded to give me the same bag of food that the other customer walked out of the restaurant with. I refused to take it because that is unsanitary, and the cashier didn’t seem to understand that. Then I requested my food be remade, and the cashier said it would be a while. At this point it’s going on 7:45pm. I patiently requested again for my food to be remade expeditiously as I had already been waiting for some time, and this error wasn’t my fault. The cashier had them remake my food immediately. This was one of the worst experiences I had at a restaurant, especially for it to be my first time. I won’t ever go back here again. The customer service...
Read moreThis review is based on a takeout order for Uber Eats. I was given a sample of some ribs from this place when my daughter brought home a plate stinking up the house in a good way one night.
I decided that I would do my own order this weekend to see for myself. I have seen this business on the app several times and skipped it due to the prices to be honest. You know some of these places give you two bones for $20 and think its worthy. However I'm happy to say that Pit Boss did not disappoint.
I received my food rather quickly considering I live in East Point which isn't very far but far enough. I knew soon as I was handed the bag that it would be all good. It was heavy. Thats good sign #1. There was also a great smoky aroma. Good sign #2. Opened the platter and my jaw dropped. Inside was 5 nice sized bones just like I like them and definitely my money's worth. $19 well spent for the ribs alone.
The ribs came bare. Thank you. Not everyone like their barbecue drenched in sauce and I lioe to see what I am getting. I asked for extra sauce. The containers are very small. If you looe a lot of sauce ask for more. The sauce I got was an orange color. Sweet and vinegar based with a pop of heat. I have never been there before so I don't know if they have different sauces.
The ribs were super juicy, moist, tender and full of flavor. They had some fat and grissle but not a lot for pork spare ribs. It really is enough for two people. Specify what kind of bread you want. They gave me a hamburger bun.
I gave it 4 stars because I didn't like the sides. The potato salad was hard and crunchy. Potatoes not cooked well and it just wasn't a good potato salad. The Brunswick Stew....I guess was okay. Never had it before and really don't have any love for it.
Overall Pit Boss is A-ok with me and I will definitely be...
