On 5/22/2025, Delta failed to perform and cost me and my family over $900 in actual documented damages, Their failure also cost me a full day lost of my vacation time. Out of all that wreckage, they only owned up to $133 and they told me I should have bought vacation insurance to cover their failures. That is basically adding insult to injury.
I'll provide you all some details. On 5/22/2025 I purchased three tickets for travel from Savannah, GA to Calgary, Alberta, Canada with a stop-over in Minneapolis. The flight from Savannah to Minneapolis was delayed by 4 hours causing me to miss connector in Minneapolis. The gate agent in at the Savannah Airport re-booked me for a flight 5:30AM the next morning from Savannah to Atlanta and then on a different airline from Atlanta direct to Minneapolis. We were at the airport without a car so we asked Delta to pay for a Lift/Uber/cab ride to get back home. They flat out refused and told me to pay for it myself and make a claim with Delta later to try to get my money back. I did that. Three hours later at 7:30PM on 5/22, I got a notification on the Delta App stating that the 5/23 5:30AM flight was "DELAYED". At that point in time, Delta had already cost me a full day of vacation and this delay threatened to cost me a second full day of my vacation. I called them and they told me the issue was "No available pilots for the 5/23/2025 5:30AM flight from Savannah to Atlanta. At that point, I got my family together and we started the 245 drive (490 mile round trip) to Atlanta to meet the flight to Calgary despite Delta's best efforts to keep me from getting there. I am a former Delta Platinum Status member. I've flown many, many times with them. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with them. I cannot recommend them after both their performance in this case and how they chose to handle the aftermath.
The following are my losses associated with this Delta debacle:
5/23/2025: $70.00 baggage fees would’ve been avoided if we had flown Delta directly instead of WestJet. Royal Tyrrell Museum tickets in Alberta, Canada: paid for and nonrefundable tour was 9 AM on 5/23/2025 but we were still in the air when that happened so this completely due to Delta issues loss was $50 Canadian 5/22/25 Nonrefundable Airbnb in Calgary Alberta Canada. Paid for but did not use because Delta failed to get us there. Loss was $162.71 Parking for 10 days at Doubletree Inn in Atlanta. TBD but roughly $200. Parking was completely avoidable because I had a ride from my house to the airport with family and Savannah, but when I had to drive to Atlanta, that forced me to pay for parking. Mileage on my car it was avoidable. 490 mile round-trip from my house to Doubletree Inn in Atlanta and back. This was also a full 9 hours of driving that I had to do because of Delta failures. Hertz car rental price increase because rental change $109. Uber ride on 5/22/2025. Because Delta canceled the first flight due to maintenance issues, I was stuck at the airport because my family would give me a ride there. Uber ride was completely avoidable if Delta had taken us. Had to get home after flight cancelled $63.68.
Worse then the monetary damages listed above was the irreplaceable loss a day of vacation in the Canadian Rockies...
Read moreI had an incredibly frustrating experience with both Delta Airlines and Aeromex. I was flying from Atlanta to Mexico City with Delta, and from there, I was supposed to take a connecting flight to Acapulco with Aeromex.
When I arrived at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), I received a notification from the Delta app that my connecting flight would depart from Gate K60. With a 3-hour layover, I had plenty of time and went for lunch. By 3:00 PM, I was already at the gate, well ahead of the 5:00 PM departure time.
However, at around 4:30 PM, I noticed no boarding was taking place. When I checked the display at Gate K60, I saw a different destination listed. Panicked, I rushed to the information desk, where I was told that the gate had been changed to K3. I immediately ran to Gate K3, arriving at 4:42 PM, only to be told that the flight was already full, and the door had been closed. The plane had already left, despite the official 15-minute window before departure.
To make matters worse, I was informed that the flight had been overbooked, and other passengers had taken my seat. This happened well before 4:45 PM, which is when the gate should have officially closed.
To my shock, there were no other flights to Acapulco available for the day, nor for the next day. Neither Delta nor Aeromex showed any concern for my situation. Neither airline offered any alternative flights, and when I went to speak with both airline counters, I was met with blame-shifting between the two, with no solutions being provided.
I felt completely abandoned by both airlines. I tried to find a resolution on my own, but it was clear that no one cared about helping me and my wife. The flights were booked through Booking.com, which I understand was just the platform used to source the tickets, and I’m not placing blame on them for this awful experience.
This experience has been extremely disappointing, and I will not be flying with either Delta or Aeromex again. The lack of customer care and accountability is beyond...
Read moreInjury/Unsafe On November 16, 2023, I was on Delta Flight No., 2567. This is a Boeing 737-9GP ER (Extended Range), Tail No. N939DZ. I was assigned to sit in Seat No. 29E (I did not choose this seat, it was assigned to me). Although the economy class of a 737 is configured with a single-aisle 3x3 seat configuration, the right side of row 29 was configured with only two seats on the right side of the aisle. The window seat was removed and replaced with a “divider” (see below). This “divider” is the cause of my injuries. Seat No. 29E did not allow for any shoulder room (armrest was replaced with a wall) without turning sideways due to the “divider” occupying the window seat and protruding so much that the armrest was removed. While sitting sideways during flight, my hips were in normal position. We experienced turbulence and a firm landing which caused injuries to my lower back, upper right spine (back) and right arm. After realizing the extent of my injuries, I visited the urgent care the following day. I was prescribed 2 medications for the pain/healing. In addition to the pain and suffering, this has created extensive hardship for my family and I (lost-time at work and missing family events etc.). After extensive research, I am unable to find any other 737’s with this same seat configuration. It is the first time that I’ve seen this, out of many flights on the Boeing 737. I strongly recommend removing either the “divider” or Seat No. 29E or else other passenger injuries will likely continue to occur due to this design flaw. Delta refused to address this injury. They instead referred me to Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Company which I felt was designed to “time-me-out” by stating several months later “no responsibility. I’ll upload photos on social media in the future for information purposes. Advice: use a...
